The operating manual specifies to use only Ni-MH AAA batteries and warns to not use Alkaline/Manganese/Ni-Cd batteries. Panasonic web site lists replacement batteries at 19.95 for a pair.
Duracel Ni-MH AAA batteries will be fine.

Batteries good, but screen shows :batteries empty?

How you know batteries are good? Sometimes new batteries are bad too. Also there is a possibility that you are using wrong type of battery like normal carbon batteries or lower ampere batteries which work fine in other gadgets but will show empty in a digital camera. Digital camera need high ampere batteries like Duracell (if your camera use AA batteries) or rechargeable NI-MH/ Li-ion batteries.

My Kodak EasyShare C180 Digital camera, came with "Kodak" batteries after those died, I inserted new batteries, and now everytime I try to turn the camera on, it doesn't respond. I have tried Lithium...

hi i just to have silimar problem with old panasonic, kodak and polaroid cameras.

try to use Duracel alkalines, not the cheap ones with out alkaline those are for remotes and clocks. flashlights.

if you are using rechargables make sure they are 2700mha AA NiMH or higher. lower won't work(there is another kind of rechargeables batteries those don't work on it).

for the lithium i never used them. they were kind of expensive compare to alkalines.
If i help. please rate me :)

Last year I bought my mom a digital camera for christmas. It worked great for about 2-3 months. Since then it is speratic, it will turn on let you take a couple of pictures then shuts down all by itsels....

Hi! Most digital cameras require outrageous amounts of power to work properly. Be sure to use only high quality, hi power ni-mh rechargeable batteries. Check for Sanyo Eneloop or Duracell. Sometimes we think the camera is broken, but in most cases is only insufficient amout of power. If you can't find the before mentioned batteries, look for 2500mA NI-MH type rechargeable batteries and a proper charger. Good luck!

Use alkaline batteries like duracell. Digital cameras support only extra duty batteries.
