Scale---or mineral deposits---form from the water you run through your Keurig coffee machine. If not cleaned regularly, the buildup can clog the lines in your machine and ruin the heating element. The manufacturer recommends you descale Keurig coffee makers once every six months for normal water conditions and once every three months if you live in an area with hard water
1.Unplug the coffee machine and remove the cup.
2.Turn the coffee machine upside down over the sink in order to fully drain it of water. Be careful of the plug and avoid getting it wet.
3.Pour undiluted white vinegar into the reservoir up to the top edge of the viewing window.
4.Place a ceramic cup under the machine, plug it in and press "Brew" for a large cup. Pour the cups of vinegar into the sink and repeat the process until the reservoir is empty.
5.Remove the final cup of vinegar and empty it. Fill the coffee maker with clean water and allow it to sit for four hours, remaining on.
6.Unplug the machine and dump the water into the sink.
7.Fill up the reservoir with fresh, clean water and plug it in. Place the ceramic cup back on the drip tray and run multiple brews in order to rinse the machine of any remaining vinegar residue

I now use soft, filtered water each day. The "descale" message still comes up every 60 days. Is descaling that frequently, normal?

yes you will still need to descale it
soft filtered water still contains minerals and calcium but in lesser quantities
if you wish to avoid descaling use distilled water or demineralized water

Coffemaker brews half a cup it says descale it need to know how

It will be in the owner manual, it usually is something like vinegar run thru the unit but check the manual first. If do not have the manual Google the full model number with "manual" to try to locate one.

As a last or first resort you can always try to call the maker's customer service number for live help.

My coffee maker is not brewing and it is indicating descale what does that mean?

hi, Descale means to run a solution through your machine to clean out any lime and calcium that may have built up in the water lines. If its not brewing then it must have build up in the boiler. Buy some descale solution or powder and add to water resevior add per directions on bottle. Run a descale cycle in machines program. If this doesn't clean out your blockage, then you'll have to remove the boiler and drill out the water inlet. Dazza REPAIRER

I have had my Kuerig coffee maker for over a year now which I believe means it's no longer under warranty. However, I paid quite a lot for it so I'd really like to see if I can have it repaired...

unfortunatly keurig treats any home model as throwaway once warrenty is up. They even do the same with mostcommercial models. By the sounds of your problems its time for a new one. sorry. try for a b145 or b150 they are a little more robust.
