I bought my parents a PH3250P patio heater for Christmas 2008 and they never even used it once (great present haha) I finally re-pod it but it does not work. It makes the ticking sound and the pilot light comes on but will not stay lit or catch the heater. Like i said it has never been used, do you have any suggestions for me?

SOURCE: Pilot light will not stay lit!!

It sounds like it could be a faulty thermocouple or your not letting it stay on long enough to heat the thermocouple.
Hope this helps

SOURCE: The bernzomatic patio heater will

More than likely it is a bad thermocoupler. The thermocoupler is that pointed piece that receives the shock when pressing the ignite knob. You will have to take the unit apart to get to it. It is the pointed part with stiff wire attached that is between the shock electrode and the pilot light. It could also be the magnetic valve at the base of your control knob, but I doubt it. It could also be the tip switch which you can test with a simple continuity bulb or tester. The tip switch is wired inline between the thermocoupler and the control valve and knob assembly. It is about nickle size and has 2 wires attached to it. You can test the magnetic valve by removing it from bottom or base of the control knob and touch one end of it on a AA battery and the other end of it jumper to the opposite end of the same battery while depressing the spring at the same time. If the magnetic switch is working you will feel the magnets attract until you pull the battery or jumper wire away disrupting the connection. There is also a way to measure the resistance of the thermocouple but if you have tested the other two items you can bank that the thermocoupler is bad. Before and after make sure you don't have any leaks by using a soapy water in a spray bottle at all of the gas connections as per the owners manual.

My brand new patio heater wont turn on

To get your patio heater to light first check the tank has plenty of LPG/gas and the regulator is turned to on. Next turn the gas control knob to pilot (on some heaters this is a red line on others it has a spark symbol) and press in - hold for at least 30 secs. Press the piezo ignitor several times and continue to hold for another 60 secs. Gently ease off the pilot to release and turn to full power. You should hear the gas jet come on. If there is air in the pipes you might have to repeat. Fould this site very useful patio heater top repair tips.

I have an endless summer patio heater the pilot lights but the does not stay on when you turn the knob to start the heater. Got it on once but then the flame blew out and could not start again

You need to replace the Thermocouple. Endless Summer Patio Heaters are manufactured by Uniflame, which is owned by Blue Rhino. You can order the Thermocouple direct ly from either company. Just make sure you have your Model Number handy.

Hi jim2869
I am assuming it is a Gas Heater. All it needs is a good blow out with compressed air. They tend to carbon up in the pilot light area. You will probably also find it is very dusty inside. Easiest way to clean the carbon out is to remove the hose at the heater and with compressed air blow through the fitting where you have removed the hose. Make sure you hold down the start button so the air can get through to the pilot light and jets. Hope this helps. Regards Bryan
