Over the weekend my t.v. won't turn on it sounds like its going to but then the red blinking light keeps flashing 6 times. I have shut it down for 24-48 hours and still it won't turn on. I am having the same problem. I turn it on and it flashes 6 times. I have unpluged it from anywhere of 60 seconds to 24 hours. This helped 3 times. Now the TV will not come back on but it still plinks 6 times. I have the Sony Trinitron WEGA KV-32HS500. What does the 6 flashes stand for?

My Sony KV36HS500 Trinitron is doing the same thing. Last night the next street over was hit by lightning. The "7" blink pattern was happening, so like the manual stated, unplug it for 4 hours. Which I did. The t.v. is back up and running fine. It's a nice t.v., better than the plasma I paid over a grand for, that's already shot. It's a good t.v. and good that Sony put in the stand by protection to prevent the t.v. from dying an unnecessary young death. Patience, don't rush it, unplug the t.v. and leave it sit. Also, don't use a power strip, that was my mistake, and unplug your t.v. if storms are in the area, I was too lazy to and now I had to deal with this, in 8 years, only twice did this happen. I'd buy another one tomorrow if they still made them.

know this isn't what you want to hear, but the problem you've
described can't be fixed with troubleshooting.
Your TV
will have to be repaired. There is a part that has developed a defect
and needs to be replaced. If you're still in warranty, the TV will be
repaired at no charge to you. The warranty would likely be at least
one year from the date of purchase from the manufacturer. If you
purchased an extended service
plan
they will repair the TV at no charge as well.
If the TV is no
longer in warranty, it will likely cost a minimum of $150 parts and
labor. This is assuming that you only need one circuit
board
or small part. If the problem is more than one of the circuit boards,
the price of repair could go much higher.

Have same model, 32 inch. Blinks 6 times, no picture, no sound. Any ideas?
it just started not coming on. the standby red light next to the power button blinks 6 times. it clicks and sounds like a normal startup but nothing happens. after a couple hours it came on. I'm afraid to sut it down.
