My kid has turn the power on when the volume was up to the limit. I shut the receiver off immediately. When I turned it on now there is only a very low on a top volume leven and only from one speaker. Oe of friedns told me that the receiver might have lock itself for protection. how do I unlock if that is the problem

Was there any source playing through the amp when your kid turned on the system?mabye the cd or dvd.If so the speakers may be blowen,to find out put a finger each side of the dome on the bass driver and press gentley,if you hear a rough sound a little like sandpaper or if the cone is stuck you have blowen sprakers,if not let the amp stay off for a couple of hours it should reset.Ps system lock is in your amp menu at the end of the setup list, but this is to lock your settings.
A good habit to get into is to turn system to mimamum when not in use.
hope this helps.
CABLE GUY.

HTR 5790 will not turn on. There was a loud pop (which I am guessing is the fuse?) and than the rec went out.

there is a post to this already about checking your voltage inside the unit on the back right hand side and how that is done. my guess is your system is set up with all your other devices hooked into one wall outlet and you overloaded it. Or maybe used a ext amplifier to increase your wattage. IF you try out holding down the ABCD method as described and press input? it may overide the factory setting when the unit experience any type of power malfunction.

Digital audio doesn't seem to be detected. I've got directTv hp, and two dvd players hooked up. The input mode is Auto. When DP or analog, no sound comes out. when Auto, I get background noises, but no...

Optical cable from DVR or DVD to receiver. TV to monitor out. Digital audio is only through optical hookup. Then hook your mic up and run the YPAO and set to auto to run the sound basic set up then when done, go back a fiddle with the manual set up and turn up speaker volume, set sound modes, etc

HTR 5790

Hi,

Yes, you would need an iPod to RCA Cable that will connect to your iPod and to the RCA Auxilliary input of the Yamaha HTR-5790 7.1 Channels Receiver. Similar to a Cygnett Groove Transit - MP3 Phone to RCA Stereo Cable or an iPod to RCA Retractable Cable.

Good luck and kind regards.

Powers on for just 5 seconds then off

Took my Yamaha HTR 5790 to a repair shop for an estimate to repair. Cost me $50 for estimate to be applied to repair. It needed two circuit boards replaced at a cost of $390.00.

SOLUTION... they kept my $50 and I bought a new AV Receiver that WAS NOT a Yamaha.

HTR-5790 shut off problem

WOW this worked.. Hold down the ABCDE and the preset tuning right arrow and then hit power.. It puts it into a diagnostic mode, but it stays on.. I just rerouted my video to not use the receiver  and the audio works perfectly now.
