I am trying to download the pictures taken with the coolpix s52c. the computer recognises the device but says there's no picture left in it. But there are 500 photos still in the memory of the device and i can see them on the camera. But i can't see them through my computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive. Or you can use Nikon Transfer, available at http://support.nikontech.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/61

Having gone over a month without a response, I assume this is no longer a problem.

Use a card reader instead of your camera.

If you go to the manufacturers site and look under "Support" you'll find a downloadable manual in pdf. form.

Try using a separate card reader to download your pictures to a folder you create on your desktop.
