Completely blank screen

I had just charged my Zen player and things were fine then all of a sudden there was an unpleasant scritchy noise and poof, nothing...it went completely blank except for the light on the top. Now it won't do anything but the light on top comes on if I dock it. Is the battery toast? Is it curtains for my lime green walking buddy? What gives? And what was that horrible noise it made? Yikes.

Will not switch ON. Display is blank, power LED flashes when docked with my computer. Tried the reset with a pin whilst holding the sliding power ON button, no joy. Zen Creative Vision M

Have you tried going into recovery mode via pressing the reset button and the power button at the same time?

ZEN will not power up

First back up all of your music and do this: Turn off the player and make sure it is disconnected from the computer. Then press and hold the play/pause button and turn it on simultaneously. It will then enter recovery mode. Scroll down and select format (all) and let it format and it should work like normal. If it freezes again, then you may need a firmware update.

Creative Zen M:vision - can't turn on/off, permanent blue light

Well, i didn't charge mine over night, was listening to it in the evening while doing some chores and all of a sudden it stopped playing, Blank screen and permanent Blue light. I tried to turn if off but it didn't respond so i left it. In the morning, it went off itself (guess the battery was low). So i connected to the computer and inserted the ZEN CD. As i was exploring the CD looking for a solution, then all of a sudden the screen came up with a note "Rebuilding..." after 5 secs it came on. With all my files intact! I hope this wud be helpful, You could give it a shot, after all there's nothing to loose!

White screens or blank screens could be easily resolved with a firmware reload. The following steps will take you through the troubleshooting steps.
  1. Reset your player and verify if the screen is able to display its contents
  2. Make sure that the player has fully charged battery
  3. Finally, perform the recovery tool if the screen still does not display any contents properly through the following site:

My zen suddenly went blank!

Your device lockup isn't uncommon, and in most cases is easy to fix. You need a small paperclip or straight pin to reset the device. When you reset, be sure to hold it in and wait for the blue light to turn off. Once you power the unit back on, it will rebuild and should operate as normal.

Zen v plus

I guess it broke.
Try re-installing the firmware, it's worth a try.
If this doesn't work, it means the screen is dead..

you can get it fixed for free if it's still under warranty.

If your Zen V is dead, wont respond to anything, try this, plug it in to the computer, hold the power switch in the on position, THEN trigger the reset button, worked like a charm for mine, I had thought it a lost cause."
