  • tilt the machine over and look at the bottom. the belt is there.
  • it will feel loose but that is normal. it is spring tensioned.
  • the noise is probably coming from the water pump, when they are bad they make a loud noise.
  •  turn the pulley around a couple times to see where the noise is coming from.

Maytag insignia- noisy spin and doesn't pump water out

If your Maytag washing machine is making a loud noise during the spin cycle and is not draining the water, there are a few possible causes. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:
  1. Check the drain hose: Make sure the drain hose is not clogged or kinked. If the hose is clogged or kinked, water may not be able to drain properly.
  2. Check the pump: The pump is responsible for draining the water from the washing machine. If the pump is not working properly, it may be making a loud noise and not draining the water. You can check the pump by removing the front panel of the washing machine and locating the pump. Check for any visible damage or obstructions.
  3. Check the belt: The belt is responsible for turning the pump. If the belt is worn or broken, the pump may not be able to drain the water properly. You can check the belt by removing the back panel of the washing machine and inspecting the belt.
  4. Check the bearings: The bearings are located in the drum of the washing machine and can wear out over time, causing a loud noise during the spin cycle. If the bearings are worn out, they will need to be replaced.

My Maytag Heavy duty 4 speed select, 10 cycle washing machine agitates while in spin cycle why?

If your Maytag washing machine is agitating during the spin cycle, it could be due to a few different issues. Here are some possible causes:
  1. Defective Transmission: The transmission in the washing machine is responsible for shifting the agitator and the drum between the spin and agitation cycles. If the transmission is defective, it may not be able to engage or disengage the agitator properly, causing it to spin during the spin cycle.
  2. Worn Drive Belt: The drive belt connects the motor to the transmission and helps to control the speed and direction of the agitator and drum. If the belt is worn or damaged, it may not be able to properly control the agitator, causing it to spin during the spin cycle.
  3. Malfunctioning Clutch: The clutch in the washing machine helps to regulate the spin and agitation cycles. If the clutch is not functioning properly, it may not be able to disengage the agitator during the spin cycle, causing it to spin along with the drum.
  4. Faulty Timer: The timer controls the various cycles and functions of the washing machine, including the spin and agitation cycles. If the timer is faulty, it may not be able to properly sequence the cycles, causing the agitator to spin during the spin cycle.
It's best to have a professional technician inspect and diagnose the issue to determine the exact cause and the necessary repairs.

The spin cycle is very noisy. What could be the problem?

hi robyn.
A washer making a loud noise during spin cycle can also be caused by a faulty drive pulley. The pulley is what the belt (if applicable to yourwasher) rides on to spin your washers tub. The pulley can be made of plastic or metal. It could be simply worn out or just loose.27 Jul 2015

Loud squeal during wash and spin cycles, maytag atlantis washer

Squealing normal occurs due to belt slippage. I would check your belts (look for cracks. Check the belt tension as well, most washers have an adjustment, normally on the motor that allows you to increase the tension of the belt.

If part of a belt gets torn and it is long enough, it will hit any part of the washing machine within range and make a clicking noise at every revolution of the motor.

I am pretty sure you need new belts. You should be able to remove a few screws and open the back cover. Between the pulleys there is a tensioner...loosen that so you can remove the belt easily. replace it with a new belt and adjust the tension.

hope this helps
