Your dish remote is the only one that is compatible with the dish receiver. You're going to have to program all the functions you want to use to the dish remote. They are usually set up for all the normal functions, volume, power, dvr etc.

How to get full picture on my tv?

First, ensure your tv is using the highest resolution possible (Usually 1080 for flat screens) by using an HDMI cable from the receiver to the television, and that you are on the correct input. Second, ensure your tv is not sizing the video by using the 'picture size' or 'aspect' or 'ratio' key on the remote that came with your tv (Not your DISH remote). Third, tune your DISH receiver (with your DISH remote) to an HD channel (for VIP model receivers, when you tune the channel to an HD channel, an opaque white 'HD' appears insude the blue box at the top of the screen). Fourth, hit the star key on the remote, while watching the screen. On the right hand side, near the top, it will cycle as you hit repeatedly the star key, the style of screen widening. Hit the key as often as you need to make the screen appear the way you want it to. The receiver will remember your setting for all HD channels. When finished with the HD channel, tune your receiver (with your DISH remote) to a SD channel (any channel in the guide that does not have the HD icon). Repeat the fourth step.

For Hopper/Joey family receivers, hit menu, settings, screen size. Follow the instructions to resize your screen to match your preference. When finished, repeat step four above on each an HD and a SD channel.

The channel guide only shows no information available most of the time

sidbashford

You are getting that message because the receiver is not updating the Electronic Program Guide (EPG). Try unplugging the receiver from your electrical outlet for about 10 seconds (make sure all lights on receiver go out) and plug back in. This will cause the receiver to reboot and re-acquire satellite signal. Allow it also to download the program guide. After you get your channel back, pull up your guide, go into the future to see if it updated.

If it did not update, you'll need to run a check switch test. Press Menu on your DISH remote; should have Main Menu on TV screen. Press 6 (System Setup), 1 (Installation), and 1(Point Dish). Highlight the CHECK SWITCH button on the upper right of the screen and press the Select button on remote. On the Installation Summary screen, highlight the TEST button at the bottom of screen and press the Select button on the remote. This will initiate the test. Allow the test to complete. Once completed, exit out of each screen till you get to Acquiring Satellite Signal on TV screen. After acquisition completion, allow it to download the program guide. If this doesn't fix the problem, you may need a new receiver. I hope this helps.

The tv is connected to Dish Network as TV2. I accidentally changed the channel & now I can't get it back to channel 90 - it only goes to 13 now. How do I fix this?

In the menu screen, you must find antenna connections. For example " TV Air "(over the air channels 2 through 13) or cable TV. You must tell the menu to select cable TV (with the original remote). This will allow you access to channel 90. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support.

After setting up a new tv, the dish remote will not work with the satellite. what could be the problem?

mbpope

If I understand you correctly, once you installed your new TV, your DISH remote doesn't allow you to change satellite channels. If this is correct, you will need to readdress the remote to the receiver. I have provided a link with these instructions. Included with the link is instructions for programming the remote to your TV.

I hope this helps.

Can not change channel with my new remote on my bell receiver

There could be a few different things causing the problem, but beginning troubleshooting would consist of the basic questions such as, are there fresh batteries in the remote and is the remote in the correct "Mode?" In order to change the satellite channels- remote needs to be in "SAT," mode, you can verify what mode the remote is in by attempting to change channels, or by simply pressing any button on the remote such as channel up or down - if the remote is in fact in sat mode the "SAT" button in the upper left hand corner of the remote will light up- this will allow you to confirm the remote is in the correct mode to allow you to successfully change channels. Also another potential issue is when you started experiencing these remote problems- has anything changed? Did you perhaps move the receiver to a different/new location? The sensor on the top of the remote and the front panel of the receiver need to have a clear path of signal in order to work, sometimes (usually rare) if the receiver is enclosed within a cabinet with glass doors this can cause an issue as well. Hope one of these tips helps; feel free to contact me directly if you need any further assistance.

I put new batteries in and found the code that coincides with my tv. The satellite mode button works fine,(I can get on "guide" and turn the channels) but the tv mode button is not allowing me to turn up...

This is due to the code in the book that is programable to the remote not being the same as your TV's. This is due to manufacter dates of the remotes versus the TVs. You could get a 20.0 remote which is the newest and a learnable remote from dish to serve this purpose.

Thanks for using Fix Ya.

What channel should I turn my tv to? i have dish

If you have Dish, your remote should have a selection for TV/VIDEO located just under the SAT and TV buttons on the upper left of the remote. Push the TV button, push the TV/VIDEO button, and you should be able to reset the TV to Satellite.

After you've reset the TV, remember to push the SAT button on the upper left to allow your remote to access the satellite.

Cannot access channel 73 on TV2

If you are unable to access the TV menu using the buttons on the TV itself it is possible you can with the TV2 remote if it still controls the volume etc. for this TV. If it doe not you will need to find a code for your set in the manual for the receiver or you can go to the following link to find that info as well.http://tech.dishnetwork.com/departmental_content/TechPortal/content/tech/receiver/625.shtml
Assuming you have control of the volume still press the small TV button on the top left of the remote. Now press the menu button and you may be able to access the TV's menu. If so you need to run a channel scan/auto program the TV. You may need to use the buttons on the TV still to maneuver through the menu.
If you are still unable to access the menu you may need to purchase a universal to access the menu.

My Dish Network Remote will not allow me to...

go to page 19 of your manual (for the E-Z remote) or here "http://www.dishnetwork.com/downloads/pdf/user_guides_and_manuals/remotes/EZ_Remote_Manual.pdf"
(if you don't have the manual)

or to here "http://www.dishnetwork.com/support/documents/receivers/default.aspx" if you have a different remote.

basically, turn your TV on, then you press the antenna button for about 5 seconds until the TV button lights, then use the channel up/down buttons to find the code (the TV will turn off when you find it) hit the TV button again to turn it back on, then hit mute to set the code! good luck!
