The passwords your computer requires is the router's encryption key ie. the WEP, or WPA or WPA2 key.
This encryption key can be retrieved or changed in the wireless settings of your router.

Forgot password

You will need to check the wireless settings of the router.

If you have 2Wire wireless router then try to find the password on the router itself.
Generally on 2wire router, the password is written on the back side of the router. It is a 10 digit number. Try to find it on the router.
If nothing is working then you can open the setup page of the router.

Connect the computer to the router and open the setup page of the router. Try to find the password on this page.

Connecting to a "2WIRE" wifi connection. Says the

Hi,

I understand that you are having trouble connecting your Nintendo DS wirelessly to your 2Wire router. The solution is simple, your Nintendo DS only supports WEP (Wireless Encription Passkey) security. It is highly possible that your 2Wire router's wireless security is set to WPA. That means you will need to reconfigure your router so that it will be utilizing WEP as a security for your wireless connection. To be able to do this, you need a couple of information from the one who setup your router. 1. User name of your router 2. Password or your router.

Once you have gotten this information, you will need to access your router configuration page through one of the computers that is linked to your 2Wire router by typing http://gateway.2wire.net on the address bar of your browser.

It will be asking you for the username and password. If nobody had setup or changes the username and password of the router, use this default username and password of a 2Wire router. Username: (none) Password: Wireless or Username: 2Wire and Password: (none). Try any of the two. If it does not work, try admin and the word password for the password or any other combinations of the two.

Once you have entered the router's configuration page click the Home Network Tab and then click on Wireless Settings. You will see there a portion that says Wireless security. In that area, you will see a drop down where you can choose what kind of wireless security you want on your system. As I have said, the Nintedo DS does not support any other wireless security setting but WEP. That means you will need to change the drop down to WEP. That also means after changing this, you will need to reconfigure your other wireless devices (like your laptop) to use WEP as well.

I am trying to add multiple computers to the LAN by adding a D-Link DES-1105 5 port switch to my 2WIRE HomePortal 1000SW. However, I am not able receive the IP addresses from the 2WIRE router through the...

you will have to port forward and setup static ip address see below.

To open the set up page of the router of the router , one of your computer should be able to go online through the router.
It could be a wired computer or wireless computer.
If it is a wireless computer then make sure that the computer is connected to your own wireless network.
Do not change any wireless settings on the router using a wireless computer.
OK ! Now you have a computer online through the router and you want to open the set up page of the router.

First step is check the IP address of the computer.
Check the IP address and the Default gateway on the computer.

For Windows XP

START ==> RUN ==> type in cmd in the RUN box==> click OK or Hit ENTER . You will see a black window that is a command prompt . In the black window type in " ipconfig " ==> and Hit ENTER on your key board .

For Windows Vista and Windows 7

click on START ==> type in cmd in the start search box ==> enter ==> you will see the black window. Type in " ipconfig "you will see a lot of information. Try to find out the local area connection IPv4 address .

Note down the Default gateway number.

For MAC OS

Click APPLE icon in the right top corner of the computer. Go to System Preferences ==> go to Network ==> you will find the option Built in Ethernet or Airport whichever is connected. If you go to that you will find the Ip address and router Address.

The default gateway is the IP address of your router.

This IP address of the router will be used to open the set up page of the router

Now you got the IP address of the router.Open the Internet Browser ( Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari )

In the Address bar of the browser Type the IP address of the router.

Do not type http:// or www just type in the IP address only.

It will ask you for the user name and the password of the router.

This is the User name and the password of the router and NOT the wireless password. On a wireless router, there are 2 passwords. One is to access the router and the other one is for the wireless network.

For most of the routers the default password will be " admin " . for some routers the default password is " password ". For Linksys router the default password is admin and no user name.

Cant sign in to wireless password not accepted

Try to connect your computer with an ethernet cable with the router
Open the router interface using the default gateway that your computer is receiving
Under Wireless, select security and check the security mode and check the compatibility with your operating system.
Remove all preferred wireless networks from computer
If the compatibility is appropriate, and if security key is exact(case sensitive), this is sure to work

Cant get the broadband link up

The picture looks like it is a 2wire DSL modem. If this is service from AT&T/SBC you should have gotten filters to put between the phone and the wall jack make sure those are installed. Power off the 2wire modem ( unplug power )Then disconnect all computers and routers you may have from the 2wire router. Plug one computer in to the router then turn on the computer first then plug the power back into the 2wire router. Wait and see if you get an uplink. If not go to this webpage http://homeportal.gateway.2wire.net
The password is probably on the serial number sticker on the 2wire.

Once you are there click on Broadband Link icon. If it says connected you are good to go. If it does not then call the internet provider for registration of 2Wire router to the service

2wire problem with ipod touch

So what you're saying is that you don't know what your password is? If so, look at your wireless router, the code may be located at the bottom of the router, perhaps underneath. If not, contact your wireless administrator. Good Luck, karenmaynn

Wireless network does not show up on computer 2wire

First, if no other networks show up also, then make sure the wireless switch on your computer is on. Its usally a on/off switch on the laptop itself.

If that doesnt work, get a computer directly plugged into the 2wire, then login to it and change the power level.

To do this, open a browser (IE: Internet explorer) and type 192.168.1.254 if that doesnt work try these "Home" , " 192.168.0.1" , "172.16.0.1"

This will take you into the homepage for the router, click on home network at the top. Then click on the wireless settings link. This will prompt your for a password, enter it.

"If you dont know your password, click I forgot it will give you a hint. Click I still cant remember, to change it, it will as for either a system key (which is a 10-digit number on the bottom of the router) or a temp password (which you need to call the manufacture to change)"

After inside the wireless settings window, try changing the power level and channel around until you can get it to broadcast.

If none of this works make sure there isnt anything around the 2wire interfering, like portable phones and electronics.
