My rca will not hold a station.Sometimes the channel will hold then it starts quickly changing from station. I have cable and I use the remote from the cable box to tune channels.I need to reset the TV remote to the cable remote everytime to return to cable reception. This problem has just started about a month .Can you help?
I had the same problem and eventually found the solution. the tact switches behind the front panel buttons tend to leak when they get old causing them to activate by themselves. take off the back cover and the switches are mounted on a small circuit board that just clips in. remove the channel up and down switches from the board and clip it back in. your TV should work fine again. you of course will have no control with the front panel buttons but the remote will still work.

If you live a good distance from the TV station you may need a better antenna. Did you do a channel search on the converter box? You'll need the remote for the converter box to change channels, not the TV's remote.
most philips universal remotes have the "code search" option this is done by: 1: Manually turn on ur tv 2:hold setup untill red
indicator stays on and release button 3: press and quickly release what
you wanna program (i.e tv,vcr, ect.) 4:press channel up repeatedly
untill your t.v changes channels(up to 300 times) if you over shoot the
channel change press down til it changes again. 5: press and release
MUTE to install the code.
In the manual it say's that what you need to do is hold the code search button untill it stay's steady then press the function button (TV, cable or whatever) for the device you need to program before doing this though turn the TV or whatever on first. Then go to the chanel select up or + button and continue to press it until it changes channel if you over shoot it you can press the - or channel down button. When you are were you want to be quickly press the mute button and release ( warning do not hold the mute button just press it quickly and release.) This will set the remote to the corect code.
With cable input connected to "RF in"on rear of unit make sure vidoe input is set to "Tuner". This will show up on the TV screen. Change channels numerically or using up/down arrow keys on DVR remote. Note there is a slight pause between changing channels. You probably will have to "autoscan" for channel setup/etc. If you say your TV set is old; it probabaly is equiped with coax
connection only/set TV channel to "3" or "4". when yot opt to play vcr/dvd it will override your
cable channel selected. Hope this helps!
Call your cable company! Whoever installed your cable did not set up your remote or give you one of their remotes. Most of the time your tv must be set on channel 3 or 4 and your tv has to be set to cable. Then you can use your remote or the cable company's remote.
I can only suggest that you Double check you have the connections correctly set ie. coax ariel to ,(dvd /digi box reciever ect...)
Also check again (& i know this is state the obvious)
your tv manual. IF you havent a manual do a google search for your tv (make & model) & search for a manual.
Ive have had a simmular experience when programming channels to a Vid-Recorder & when i finished the channels dissapeared.
I realised I didnt have the video set to the correct channel with the tv usually channel 9 or the highest channel on the tv.
So i waisted a good half hour for nothing.
What source/cable/Sat/etc are you using? Are there stations on those numbers? If so, do you have a VCR powered up that is connected to all this. That could be where you're losing your signal....accordianman
Hi Suzanne. What you need to do first is get or have the original RCA remote available. next, go into the menu and do whats called a channel search, but you will need an antenna or cable line attached to the RF input of the TV set, Do whats called an auto search. Let the set complete its cycle. If it found no channels, then there is no input sourch or you have a bad tuner or its assoicitated componets. it should be in the owners manual on how to do this. If you do not have an owners manual, get one here http://www.thomsonnetwork.com/EN/Public/InstructionBook/IBSearchResults?querytext=P5292*&brands=RCA%2cGE%2cPROSCAN%2cRECOTON%2cSPIKEMASTER%2cAR%2cJENSEN%2cAMBICO%2cADVENT%2cUNBRANDED&doctypes=IB&categories=ACCESSORIES%2cAUDIO%2cCOMMUNICATION%2cDTVS%2cDVD%2cMULTIMEDIA%2cCOLOR_TV%2cVIDEO&firstdocnum=1 If you need a new remote or original replacement please go to http://remotes.com Good Luck

What you need to do is take the remote, go into the menu, find channel scan and do a channel scan to find all the available stations available on this system. Make sure the TV set is in the cable mode and not antenna mode or you wont get any stations above channel 13.
