I was given a 37 in HDTV . When I plug it in and hit the power button a blue light shows up. Nothing shows on the screen and there is no sound. None of the buttons do anything. What can i try to get it working.

Sounds like the problem could be in the power supply of the TV. Have a technican check for defective capacitors if you're not equipped to do the job yourself.

Replace the Y_Substain Board. The pulsating sound is the switch mode power supply trying to start up, but will shut down due to shorted Y-Board.

Go to youtube.com. search, Polaroid 37 lcd hd repair. Two or three vids on how to fix. Radio shack has 45 watt capacitators for about 4.70 for two. Easy fix or get someone to help.

Unplug for one hour then plug back in---worked for me--computer resets

I would check the capacitors on the power inverter most problems with LCDs can be attributed to that or the backlight

I think you have to have something plugged into video inputs or RF INPUT for sound to work. Otherwise you get a blue screen and it says no input. or not available. Does this set have an off air HDTV tuner? IF it does, try hooking it up and see if you get sound then. Good luck and that should solve you problem.
