Mitsubishi WD-52525 Rear projection hdtv I just turned my tv on and after about 1 minute I heard a pop, and the tv turned off. I tried turning it back on, and I have audio, but no picture...what could this be?

Your lamp blew. Hopefully the power surge did not take out the ballast. You need to get a new lamp. I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4168009-change_lamp_in_dlp_projection_tv which will not only tell you where to get the lamp at the best price but also walk you through the repair.

The pop was a high voltage arc of electricity that blew some vital components on the main circuit board. The unit is of no use now. Repairs are far more than replacing the TV.

The projection lamp is dead.The tv projection lamp in the tv now,been in the tv like 1 1/2 or 2 years,The lamp life span is over. Require replacing a new projection lamp.

Color wheel won't spin up to speed

check the lamp to see if the pop was the filament breaking. the whirring could be the ballast trying to fire the lamp.

You and a million others are having this problem. Are you handy? Did you say; yes/kind of?

HERE IS THE SOLUTION FOR THAT PROBLEM AND THE ONES YOU WILL HAVE IN FUTURE:

Replace C81A2,C81A3, C81B3 AND C81B4 (1000uFD, 16 V) On DM PCB.
Replace C8F19, C8F21, C8F22 and C8F27 (1000uFD, 16 V) On FMT PCB.
Replace C9A51, C9A52, C9A61, C9A62 On power PCB.

REPLACE ALL WITH (680uFD, 16V, 105c), part number 181P734030.

Replace C9A37 and C9A38 ON POWER PCB. (3300uFD, 50 V).

ps; Three boards on left side of TV and about 2.5 to 3 hours of repair time.
