Pink splotches on white screen

I had a very similar problem with mine... You are correct, it is the optic block.. it will cost about a $1000 or so to fix. I chose to fix my 60" because I absolutely love these TVs. The Technology may be older but they are still great!!!!! (i.e. Instant Picture...no refresh rate required!!!)

If you think you also have a dust issue just get a vacuum cleaner and clean the vents on the back of your TV. You can also remove the Front Panel... take out the lamp (make sure your TV is COLD!!!...trust me on this) and vacuum what you can making sure you do not touch the back mirrors (located where your lamp goes in). You should do this every time you change the lamp at a minimum.

Black spots blocking picture on plasma TV

Main board is likely the issue or worst case is a defective main screen called a display panel. Voltage checks will not usually help with this type of problem since it will likely have to be traced with a scope.

3-5 years is average life on this type of set and Philips is known for parts at that age becoming unavailable............

Spots on screen in front of picture

This could be an issue with your DMD board or your Video Board. Go to the menu, if the white spots show on the menu, the issue is with your DMD board, but if they don't show, the issue is with your Video board.

I just replaced the bulb in my Sony 55'' Grand Wega. the picture looked fantastic the first day. turned on the TV the next day and everything that should have a ''white color'' looked pink. the blues...

Please adjust TINT control of Video Settings in Menu that will adjust color tone of TV. I do not think this problem is related with Lamp because TV screen does not have any color blobs or spots.
Above solution is for Sony KDF-55WF655 model TV, if your model number is different, let me know.
Thanks.

The picture on my tv has white spots. it is a rear projection tv hd. viore is the brand.

Lets do this, with the tv on go to the menu and if it's still has the white spots, it's most probable to be your dmd board, if the white spots are gone it might be your video board

Yellow spot in center of screen

I have recently developed the same yellow spot problem on my Sony KDF-E50A10  50" LCD television...a large yellow circular hue that takes up the bottom center of the picture and is especially noticeable against a white background.  It has been diagnosed as the optical block (light engine) and without an extended warranty Sony refuses to assist with the repair cost.  Repair was estimated at $1,100 plus tax and travel fees to my home.  So you see, it is not only a Hitachi problem.  You would think they could build something that would last more than two years considering the initial cost of over two grand for the TV !

I GET WHITE SPOTS ON MY LCD SCREEN

this is a touchy subject for sony. basically sony has increased the brightness levels for the backlights to have better color tones in thier lcd's. well the downfall of this is the white spots you are experiencing. this is not a defect, you will never get them to go away, the only thing you can do is to turn the backlight and brightness down to reduce the white spots. if you contact sony, there is a software upgrade that will help reduce this issue...
