When i plugged the usb cable of my nokia e71 to a pc. the mobile ask for the connection mode. the computer doesn't detects the mass storage device though i select mass storage mode. neither the pc suite detects my mobile. and i am sure that my data cable is ok coz it worked for another mobile.

2. Open the notification bar, and then touch USB connected.
3. Touch Turn on USB storage in the dialog box that opens to confirm that you want to transfer files You can now transfer files from your PC to your mobile phone's microSD card. When your microSD card acts as USB mass storage, your mobile phone will not use this memory space. Ensure that you follow the correct procedures to disconnect the USB mass storage device (your mobile phone) from the PC when you have finished transferring files.

8.3.1 Copying Music to the microSD Card
1. Connect the phone to your computer with a USB cable and mount the microSD card.
2. On the PC, navigate to the USB drive and open it.
3. Create a folder in the root directory of the microSD card (for example, Music).
4. Copy the music from your computer to the folder you have created.
5. After copying music, unmount or eject the drive as required by your PC's operating system to safely remove the mobile phone.
6. Disconnect the mobile phone from the PC.

Once done open music player and play music.

Your computer uses USB Mass Storage Mode to detect your Garmin unit. If your computer does not detect your Garmin unit, you can try these troubleshooting steps:

Unplug the USB cable from the computer.
Turn the unit off and then back on again.
Plug the USB cable into your computer.
The unit either automatically goes into USB Mass Storage Mode or displays USB Mass Storage Mode as an option on the screen.

Note: If your computer still does not detect the unit, make sure that you plug the USB cable directly into the computer USB port and not the USB hub. If the cable is already plugged directly into the computer, try plugging it into a different port.

I had a very similar problem with my N73. One fine day it did not connect, the next time I tried it started working again. Another time it did not work and so on. But as time went by the times it did not work grew over the times that it actually did work. The problem was not with the software or PC but with the phone. I even tried changing the cable but there was no real difference. I think the USB connector part of the phone must have gotten damaged some how.

I however did find a different solution but slower, you can connect to your phone with PC suite/Ovi Suite using bluetooth. It works the same but is much slower thats all.

on your p3 laptop/desktop go to the device manager and update usb drives (DO NOT CONNECT your phone). Before that uninstall pc suite. Then reinstall again.And follow the on screen guide how to connect the phone.

first see if your phone is set to usb mode to check go to settings>usb mode and select the mass storage

For maasai1 disconnect your USB cable and upgrade to the latest Nokia PC Suite v6.86.9.0 when installed do 2 restarts on your PC, then open Nokia PC Suite and follow the connection instructions, bear in mind that it's not magic the CPU has a lot to do and it takes time to do it.
