Philips dvdr880 Hi guys i had DVD recorder philips dvdr880 given to me by friend but there is no manual. when i turn it on message on dvdr displays "IS TV OPN" and none of the controls are working regardless of what buttons i press on the remote controll or recorder itself. Any advice please thanks peter

The DVDR880 displays "IS TV ON?" when it is in factory mode. You need to switch the TV to the DVDR input, as the on-screen instructions will tell you how to proceed.

Sounds like the power supply is dead check the secondary coil voltage.

240V AC Primary and 12VDC on the Secondary powering the motherboard

Connect philips dvdr80 to intigrated freeview tv

Solved the problem by connecting the freeview box back into the dvd recorder. Apparently because the dvdr was made before tvs with integrated freeview, it can only recieve decoded signals from a freeview box, ie analog

I have a Philips Model DVDR 3505/37 recorder. I recently hooked up a RCA analog to digital converter to the TV and to the DVD. Now it will not record. No error messages. Just no recording. Thanks

The Philips DVDR 3505/37 has a built-in analog to Digital converter. No additional converter is needed. Just do the scan for over the air channels and set to go. Works fine now.

Also need to know what is the make and model of the universal remote you are using. Codes vary from one to the next.
