IPAQ H6340 memory backup battery. Does anyone know what battery technology this PDA uses for this memory backup battery. I have the back off and it's a button cell in green shrink wrap and measures 1.56V. If it's a silver oxide then it's OK. If its Lithium (should be 3V) then this explains why when I remove the main battery I lose everything. Thanks in anticipation Dave

SOURCE: how to change the backup battery of ipaq 1940?

http://www.pdasmart.com/products/19927ipaqparts1900.htm

This PDA is relatively difficult to take apart. I've done it myself and it was very difficult. It is not recommended by any means because you can seriously mess up your ipaq by taking it apart. On the site I gave you after you buy and receive the replacement backup battery, if you do it yourself, will give you a site to get instructions from. You can also send it in to have it done professionally.

SOURCE: The backup battery not working

Hello Paul,

Yes the battery can be replaced but this will require you to dissasemble the pda. The problem you face is a clear sign that this battery has failed. There has always been a problem with hp's battery measurement algorithm regarding that secondary backup battery. Altrough it is empty or even if you remove it, the program will still display a full bar. In order to change this battery you will need to remove the screws from the back of your unit. The casing will come off pretty easy. The back-up cell is a small coin like battery most probably wrapped in a green plastic shel. you should find a similar battery and connect the pins from the old one to the new. The battery size is not critical as long as you can make it to fit in the space inside. Try, however, not to use a very small battery because it will drain much faster then larger ones. Carefull when observing polarity.
If you need more informations please reply.
Bogdan.

in the fall the simcard reader or the sim card connectors where damaged.

I would take the pda to a professional for analysis.

Vanishing of sms folder.

If after a hard reset the PDA doesn't give you back the sms folder, it is most likely to asume that a ROM reinstall must be done. If you have a USB sync cable, check the HP site and download the ROM version for your Ipaq. Carefull with the rom upgrade, it's a simple process but must be done with care and by the instructions given there.
