Question about Vizio VU42L 42 in. LCD TV

Intermittently my Vizio model e370va volume will rise on its own and get distorted then turn off and in a few seconds, turn on the TV. Visio tried replacing the power board. Same problem. Replaced the TV , same problem. Directv say their HD dvr receiver is not at fault. Switched Hdmi cables. Still the same problem.

I was having the same issue. I found this on Fixya and it seems to have worked.

Okay I just called and found this out. I have the 32 inch vizio hd flat screen. My problem with weak and fluctuating volume, was that I have a cable box. Go into menu, then audio and under the advanced audio section you will see srs trusurround HD and srs trusurround. Basically this function automatically adjusts volume levels for satelites and whatnot. But because cable boxes automatically have this feature you could just turn off the srs trusurround. Hopefully that should help you.

Visio TV freezing and then rebooting
If you can get into the setup program, try doing a factory reset to get back to the default setup settings. This may cause you to lose apps that you have added to the set, however, but that's better than having to buy a whole new set. You also may want to see if there are any updates for the set from Visio if you don't have it set up to download and install them automatically already.

My visio 42 in TV will not stay on. turn on and the white visio light comes on then after 3 seconds it turns off and the light goes back to orange. any ideas?
check the power pack inside it because it may not be compatible with it

Hey there, Cheri Torres with DISH Network Customer Service here. It sounds like you are going to need to readdress your DISH remote to your new Vizio TV. We have a few different codes for each of our different models of remotes. You will be able to locate the model number of your remote on the back of the remote at the top usually a two to three digit number with a decimal point. I will list here for you the best codes for Vizio TVs as well as the instructions for addressing the remote to your TV. Instructions for addressing your remote to your TV.
  1. Turn the Television On.
  2. Press and hold the TV mode button until all other mode buttons light up red.

  5. Test functionality with the TV.
  6. Return to Step 2 if the remote is not able to turn the TV On/Off, change the volume and mute the television.

I have a vizio tv model # e370va and my dvd player won't work with it.I have the red,white,n yellow connected cord but there no yellow to plug in back of tv so just do red n white tried everything don't...
You might have a composite video input on the side of the tv.

Have you removed the back and looked for Bad Capaciotrs on the power supply board?
Capaciotrs will be vented or puffed up on Top. 1000uf 16v,2200uf 10v 3300uf 10v etc....

My Visio 50" Plasma Model# VP504FHDTV10A was purchased in June of 2008. Recently when I try to turn it on, it makes a click sound and then the Visio emblem turns a dull amber color and the TV will not turn...
I just solved this kind of problem with my VIZIO VP504FHDTV10A. It was main power supply that went bad. You need to open back panel cover and right in the middle you will see two powersupply boards(subpower board(smaller) and big main powersupply board). Just get board part/model # and search it on eBay(what I did). It was approx. $100. Good luck.

My Visio turns itself off and on when I change to one channel
I had the same problem. Tech support told me to turn the tv off, then unplug it. Then hold the power button (on the tv - on the bottom of left side) in for 30 seconds and try again. This did solve my problem.

Buzzing noise when turning on the volume.
Only recourse is to replace the main cba. I would probably try ShopJimmy.com for the module because "IF" you could get one from Visio it would be anywhere between $200 - 300.

Code for Vizio tv
I contacted Vizio the other day. They tell me that they use the same generic codes as LG. I have Suddenlink Cable, formerly Charter, so I still use the Charter remote. My remote only needed 3 digits and I have noticed that many need 4 or 5. I can tell you that the LG code worked for my tv. I can power on/off, volume, and change the channel. All other functions require the manufacture's remote. The code I used is 005. There was also 004 but that did not work on my tv. Hope this helps someone!

Vizio vu42L. There is no picture, sound or backlight. The orange light is on and turns white when powered up. The powers board clicks when plugged in and when the on switch is pushed. Sometimes you have to unplug it to turn it off. If you try to turn it off with the switch it turns it self back on. Is this the main board?
