Hello, I have a Playstaion 3 40GB and I haven'y even had it for over a year. I started it up and it says "Cannot start. The correct hard disk was not found." Now what can I do to fix it?

Hello dmm1282. Go ahead and take out your hard drive and make sure there are no dust clumps stuck on the mounting cage. You may want to get some canned air (duster) to blow any dust build up out of the PS3 case. Put your hard drive back in and check it. If it does the same thing, you will need a new hard drive as the read arm inside may be blown. I hope this helps. Good luck.

This error is due to the fact that the PSN is down. It has nothing to do with your system and all you have to do is wait till sony fixes the issue.

I Have the same problem with mine i've been looking for a solution for a year and havn't found one yet so i think it is a bugged update because mine started that right after i updated it.
Sounds like you may need to forward your ports for psn in your routers advanced settings. try looking up your routers make on portforward.com for a tut on how to do it. I dont have the ports u need to open either so try a google for the port ranges that psn use. Also check tht ur settings are correct wep code if your wireless etc. Hope this helps a bit :D
It sounds like your hard drive may be damaged. The Playstation uses a standard 2.5' hard drive and is user replaceable. Best Buy ,for example, sells these types of drives for $60-120 depending on the size of the drive (Number of GB) you want. Lots of guides online as to how to replace your hard drive, it's only 3 screws.
According to information provided by the manufacturer, the Sixaxis controller is unfortunately not compatible with the Playstation 2 and is only supported on the Playstation 3 console.
