I came across a Sylvania 6620LE 20 in. HDTV and owner said it had some display problem. Said I could have it if I wanted it. Took it home, plugged it in and it has picture and sound. After about a second or less, the bottom half of the screen becomes distorted, left bottom quarter with vertical lines, and right bottom quarter with horizontal lines. I did a little research on the unit and I'm thinking it may be the LCD controller board. If so, the cost is incredibly low compared to the cost of a new lcd tv. Part is only going to cost me around 40-50 bucks. Just looking for a little confirmation that this in-fact could very well be the problem. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Yes,this problems it is 90% is the problems and the causes by the T-CON decoders board.10% could be the LCD screen panel itself it is shorted and dead also causes this problems.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com also have and sell these refurbish T-CON decoders board too.Tries it u have 90% of sucessfull rate.

    This is LCD TV, not Plasmas which uses X-Y sustain board.

    No X or Y sustain boards in LCD. Please read the post carefully, or you will mislead someone. for the record Y and X boards are only found in PLASMA TVs.

My sylvania portable DVD player won't read discs the display says No Disc after the spin. What do I do?
I had same problem with a sylvania portable DVD: no disc. After cleaning the laser didn't work, I took the unit apart, and found that there is a small gear that moves the laser back and forth across the disc.. The gear could easily be misaligned with a rough bump along the drive.. All I did was realign the gear to the center where the disc was. Inside, there was even a small lever to pull back on to do this.. I also noticed a small Ribbon cable connecting the laser to the main board. Again, seemed nimble. I detached the ribbon, cleaned the connectors with alcohol and reattached. Happy to say, it works perfectly now. :). Good luck.

I'm having trouble connecting the tv to my surround sound system. The surround system says to connect the cables to the "audio out." There doesn't seem to be an "audio out."
I checked Amazon, it says "For connections, you get 1 each composite- and S-video inputs for your DVD player, VCR, or other audio/video device, and a set of component-video inputs for your progressive-scan DVD player or DTV set-top box."

Your TV does not have a audio out since it is a smaller TV. You need to get a tuner and route the sound system through there.

SYLVANIA 6620LG TV - DTV??
The ;quick answer is YES, you will need a converter box to receive digital broadcasts. This set has only an analog tuner built-in. That is why it is HDTV "ready" (ready for you to add a tuner).

As for HDTV vs EDTV it is a matter of resolution. Your set is capable of EDTV resolution, which is better than SDTV (standard definition TV) but not quite as good as HDTV. With a digital tuner you will be able to view all digital programming, even HD, and it will look excellent, though not quite as sharp as a set with higher definition.
