Question about Logitech Z-2300 2.1 Computer Speaker System (3-Piece)

Open Question

Wired remote female connection

The port where the wired remote plugs into the subwoofer is causing the speaker on the right to not work. I am fairly sure that it is a pin inside the female connector that has been somehow damaged. I am able to temporarily fix it so that the speaker works by wiggling and reconnecting (many many many times) the wired remote input into the sub, but i usually have to do this several times a day (which is somewhat of a hassle and probably not doing any good to the sub). I have looked all over for replacement parts or for ways to fix this and havent found anything useful. Any suggestions to help me are very much appreciated.

PS: i have misplaced my warranty

SOURCE: Broken D-sub cable

I would advise against a direct solder inside the unit. I would go and purchase a replacement connector from a Radio Shack or other electronics parts store. Solder wires to this, then plug in, should fix problem.

SOURCE: Very Quiet Subwoofer - amplifyer problem?

Hi there,
Yes, it is fixeable, but you can carefully check this,
1) open the SUB, and see if any cable is broke or loose in the negative and positive poles.
2) check if there a loose cable on the terminals point of attach speakers.
3) other than this is a defective AMP inside and mus be change.

You may have to call Logitech support or email to find out what the pin out is. that would be my only solution if there is one.

SOURCE: Logitech THX Z-2300 only one speaker works

try tapping the speaker box in your palm while the speaker is connected. There might be a bad contact of the wires inside. I had to open up my speaker to find that out. i moved around the wires connected to the cone of the speaker and then started to hear music once i did that. it was the left speaker by the way.

How do i connect the boston BA745 comp. speakers to my gateway desktop?

Assuming you have the BA745 2.1 speaker set up, all of the cables connect to the subwoofer and then to the computer or the satellite speakers (these are built into the speakers IIRC). Take the cable with the black box (2 pins) to red and green. The red and green plugs go into the matching color ports on the computer and the pins on the black end fit into the jacks between the those for the two satellites. Plug the single end speaker cable into the subwoofer port all the way to the right on the back of the subwoofer. Plug the wire with the two plugs into the matching color jacks (blue to the left, red to the right). Then plug in the power adapter cable in the farthest left jack and plug in the other end to a surge protected power strip (that is plugged in and turned on).

My philips dvd player 5.1 have female ports at back side for audio but i have the sound system of LG which has simple naked wire to connect .

Philips DVP 3256 has 6 outputs which takes in RCA connectors
Altec lansing VS3251 has 3 STEREO outputs.
Buy 3 nos of STEREO (female) to RCA (male) cables
1. Connect the Altec's green wire to first stereo-to-RCA cable. RCA ends to DVP 3256's Front left and Front right
2. Connect the Altec's black wire to second stereo-to-RCA cable. RCA ends to DVP 3256's Rear left and Rear right
3. Connect the Altec's orange wire to third stereo-to-RCA cable. RCA ends to DVP 3256's Centre/Sub woofer. Interchange RCA ends if the Subwoofer sounds dull.

Good Luck

Buzzing sound from woofer when I plug in

If the woofer works fine when plugged into any other port, I would say that you have a connector on the receiver that has a loose connection or possibly a cold solder joint (poor or broken solder joint). RCA jacks can be stressed quite a lot especially if you use cables that have very tight connectors. The female RCA jack gets wiggled or twisted when trying to remove a cable and this causes solder joints to crack. I would have a look at that connector on the receiver..

What Is the Blue Input Port on the Back of the AOpen Subwoofer?

It is a proprietary controller that plugs in to that port. Kind of a wired remote, that controls on/off, subwoofer volume, and speaker volume.

Subwoofer

Most AV receivers do not have a built in amplifier block to drive a subwoofer, and merely provide the subwoofer output channel at line voltage. Thus, a powered subwoofer is required. Does the subwoofer require mains power? From your description, I'm guessing it doesn't. If not, it does not have a buit in amplifier, you will need to purchase a monoblock amplifier, which is just a mono amplifier with a volume control, no tone controls or anything else. Make sure that the amplifier power rating is as close as possible to the subwoofer power rating, as it is quite possible to blow a speaker by using an amplifier whose power output is too low, by overdriving the amplifier , and putting DC through the voice coil when the amplifier clips. If it does require mains power, it will have an amplifier built in, but does not have line level inputs.
