Hi there John, my name is Kimberly and I form part of the Social Media Department with DISH. You can follow this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8J7mz30_fzk to view a video that can help you get the idea of how to connect your DVD player to your receiver and then TV. On the video the customer has a 625 model DISH receiver although, I do not know the model of receiver you have, I am sure you will find this video beneficial to you. If you have any additional questions or need further assistance please feel free to reach me at: [email protected]

We would be happy to help you with getting your DISH remote working with DVD player. In order for us to give you a specific code for your DVD player we would need to know the brand. We recommend performing a power scan; this scans the remote for a code that will work with your DVD player. Power scan instructions:
Step 1: Press and hold the VCR/DVD mode button until all mode button back lights illuminate, then release.
Step 2: Press and release the Power button.
Step 3: Press the Up button once a second while pointing the remote at the desiredequipment. If the code for the equipment comes up, the equipment will poweroff.
Step 4: Press the pound (#) button. If the code entered is valid for the remote, themode light flashes three times.
After doing the power scan please remember to put the remote back into SATmode. Thanks so much for being a valued DISH Network customer!

Hello, this is Dan Busa with DISH Network Customer service, What I would check is the cable coming from the receiver to the tv make sure you only have one set. If you only have one set coming from the box, check if it goes into the DVD player. If it does, hook the receiver up separately and it should work okay.
I do hope that you have gotten this resolved, but if not, here are some steps.
From the receiver box:
You will want to connect RCA (red/white/yellow) from the TV1 slot to the IN on the back of the DVD. You can also use coax, which would then be connected to TV SET OUT on the back of the receiver.
From the DVD:
You will want to have more RCAs going from OUT on the DVD to the TV. Then the TV needs to be on channel 3 or 4, and on an input. Usually Video 1 or 2. The DVD will need to be on whenever you are watching the DISH.
if you have like a dvd player then try hooking the xbox up to it in the front where the video is for the 3 plugs then try to plug dish network in the back of the dvd where the ant in plug is at then take the cord from the dvd player and plug it in the back of the tv if this dont work let me know
Refer to page 82 in your Dish Network User's Guide......(Make sure Sony system is powered on and in DVD mode with a disc in the player). Point Dish remote at Sony box - Hold Aux until all buttons light up at top....press 2 - then STAR button* and then POWER button - then press the up arrow key repeatedly until Sony turns off - press # key to lock in code.
It took me awhile to get it to work....it will only work power, mute, and volume - not dvd play functions.
Refer to page 85 to make the Dish remote control the Sony box volume by default.
Good luck.
Without knowing the actual ports on each of these devices, all I can suggest is that have you tried connecting your DVD to the Dish box (thru VCR scart connection at the back of the Dish box) and then the Dish box into your modulator (and then modulator into your tv.
I have a similar system set up but we have a Sky Digital box here, no idea if its the same as a Dish box but im assuming so.
dish network remotes are universal, you can program your receiver, vcr/dvd, telivision and stereo to most remotes. if you need info on this just post again, otherwise i would list your issue under the remote brand
