CLX-3160FN Printer is less than 5 months and the print quality is terrible. There are "smudges" of ink all over the copies and not in the same place. Any Ideas of what I can do to correct?

Down the left side of page close to the margin area black and color ink is faded as if ink were low even when I print a test page the C: are faded all the way up the page to congrads? I think the bar needed to be cleaned with an old ink jet I used to have????

Nope. I've tried everything. Feel lucky that yours doesn't jam 9 of 10 tries when copying (among other things). I'm going to take a baseball bat to mine.
I know. I only wish I'd have done this research BEFORE I bought the stupid thing. I normally do... not sure what happened this time, but an expensive lesson. I do know I'll never buy another Samsung product. I am researching my next all-in-one and the Brother looks like a winner.I know. Dear This is the Quality issue.
can be solved by replacing black developer in imaging unit.(better solution)
Alternate is change the Imaging unit(costly solution).
The problem is not a shortage of the toner -- it's either a dirty drum or some other problem. Either way, it's nothing that you can fix by yourself -- take the printer to a qualified technician for proper servicing. Or, just responsibly recycle the printer, and buy a new one.
You need to check your document print settings on your PC. Drill through the printer properties menu until you get to the colour settings. At a guess you currently have it set to "Greyscale" rather than colour or auto.
Go to printer properties and check whether you have selected print in grey mode and also check whether you have selected the economic mode. Rectify the same will solve your problem.
Have you tried putting a shim under it to make it higher? Seriously...If the toner is low, you have to buy a new toner cartridge to replace the on that's low. No ink toner = no print. Visit Staples, Best Buy, etc. to buy a new toner cartridge.

Driver could be corrupt. Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off.
I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with
the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the
printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud
