Can not get dvp-cx995v into hdmi output - Sony DVP-CX995V Multi-disc DVD Player

Firmware update worked perfectly. I have a 4k tv and couldn't figure out why it worked on the ebay seller's tv, but not on mine... did it last night and now I can watch movies... video and sound using HDMI is perfect. I also tried the FW update for DVP-CX995V. After the update I lost audio on HDMI, so I did a factory reset and got back the audio. Next I noticed the HDMI video cuts out after playing for a few minutes. So I wonder if the update added HDCP to the player, requiring HDCP compliant TV, but since I was playing a computer copied DVD, it cannot be a HDCP issue. Last resort is to connect component cables instead of HDMI. But for me, the FW update only made it worse and I cannot go back and remove that update any longer.
