Do you mean that you can't see what's on the screen in bright sunlight? This is common on 90% of the point and shoot cameras. Only 10% have brightness controls for the lcd.

When taking pic in sunlight - lcd screen is whited out!!

I think that's normal. I also have experienced the same always when the screen is exposed to sunlight. Try adjusting its brightness or use an anti-glare protection.

Screen not readable in bright sunlight.

This is a problem with digital cameras with LCDs. You can make things better by upping the brightness of the screen - this will consume more power though.

Go into the menu (middle button at the back), into 'setup', and then look for 'LCD brightness'.

Dvx100a showing black screens on lcd screen and view finder

You probably have the lens cap on, the iris dial closed, or you are in vcr mode rather than camera mode. You may also have the nd filter set to 1/64th, this is only for bright sunlight. When shooting indoors with low light, set the nd filter to off and hit the iris button until iris manual appears on the lcd, then dial the iris dial in front of the iris button up or down to bring the iris to around 5.6 f stop.

Horizontal pale blue lines on LCD screen and even on picture

Hey Ma-ya,
Most of the time horizontal lines are a result of taking photographs in very bright situations. If you are seeing horizontal lines on the LCD screen and in your images in low light situations this is most likely digital noise. Two ways that could fix this problem are turning the noise reduction on, and/or making sure your flash is turned on and your subject is within the range of your flash. Another cause of digital noise is having your iso set too high (I never shoot over 400 iso). I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan

Turn on camera but the lcd sceen is black

I tried all the solutions offered on the net and none worked except one. It simply said "hit the camera with the palm of your hand" (when it is on) and the screen will return. I thought, well I have nothing to lose and so I hit it on the side and sure enough the LCD is again working !!! Contacted Canon prior to this and they had no idea but suggested I send it in to be repaired at a cose of $163.50 Australian. Pleasant staff they have, but no help in solving what looks like a common problem of Canon cameras. I will have second thoughts purchasing Canon from here on in.

LCD screen black, no viewed image displayed.

Internal video out connection may be bad, try using the provided cable to connect to TV and disconnecting to see if it returns to normal.

FD-88, viewing LCD in daylight, too bright

You're not doing anything wrong. Sometimes it's just hard to see to LCD. You could try turning down the brightness, or turning off the backlight, but that doesn't work very well either. There are sun shields for sale. I have a FD-88 also, And so far I've been able to see the screen ok in sunlight. But It's winter in Minnesota so the sun is low in the sky, and I can normally shade the screen with my body. Hope this helps.
