Broken power plugin port

The power plug in port you refer to is the DC Power Jack.

The AC adapter (Charger) converts AC electricity into DC electricity.
DC electricity has two poles. Positive, and Negative.
(Just like on a D cell flashlight battery)

The center pin of the DC Power Jack is the Positive connection.
The outer metal spring-like pieces, on the inside of the cylindrical shape surrounding the center pin, are the Negative connection.
(The pieces of spring-like metal, all connect to the Negative connection in the DC Power Jack)

Example of a replacement DC Power Jack, for the Asus Eee PC 1005HA Netbook,

[ Note*
Cannot agree with the replacement instructions they offer, at the bottom of the page.
Not everyone has access to a hot-air gun. A 25 Watt soldering iron, and Desoldering Braid, is better, and more easily accessed ]

A few articles dealing with replacement of a DC Power Jack,

1) Remove ALL power. Remove the AC adapter, (Charger), and Battery.
2) Observe Anti-Static Precautions. Buy, and use an ESD wrist strap.
Electro Static Discharge.

(Average cost is from $3 to $6. Connect the alligator clip to a good ground source.
I connect to an unpainted surface, of the metal frame of an open, empty desktop computer case.

The net book does not start at all even with charger pluged in. Even the LED won't light. I replaced the charger but still the same problrm. Thanks, Jamal

unplug the charger, remove the battery, press the power button for at least 1 minute.
plug in the charger, try starting the computer as normal, if nothing happens and it's under guarantee then contact asus (good luck). if not under guarantee, try removing and reinserting the memory. if that doesnt work expect the worst. you might want to take it to your local repair shop.

Asus 1005HA pc not charging.. The blue light on the charger is on but it wont charge the laptop..

I have a total of 5, yes 5 netbooks and a laptop. My experience has taught me that sometimes, it is the charger not the actual netbook/notebook that is the problem. My barely used compaq laptop sat quiet for 2 years.... wouldn't charge..... I assumed it needed repairs more than I could afford. Meanwhile, with 2 of the netbooks, they stopped taking a charge even with the lil led light on. I ordered new chargers for netbooks- PRESTO-- they took a charge. And eventually got a new charger for the expensive paperweight I had too. Now they are all working again. Not an expert by any means, but have had a lot of experience with them. I would rather pay 15 bucks and be wrong, than assume it's something else- have them fix for 80.

My laptop is an Asus 1005HA-V and I'm having trouble turning it on. I've had it for about a year and when I try to turn it on it's lights flash and then turn off again. Also sometimes when it's on the...

Things that you can try:
1. disconnect the charger and the battery. 2. press and hold the power button for 15 secs. w/o the charger and the battery (the reason for that is to drain flea power). 3. connect the laptop straight from the charger w/o the battery and turn it on. It should turn on fine. If nothing happens, the motherboard is bad or the charger.

My asus eeepc 1005HA keyboard is not working..

Try removing the battery and the charger of your laptop. After 30seconds, put it back. As soon as you press the power button keep on tapping F2. If you can still get into the BIOS. It means your keyboard is still responding. Try to restart it again, and see if you can use your keyboard.
