I have a Canon PIXMA iP1600 and I am getting that "Service 5100 Error" from my printer. The Power and Resume buttons are flashing simultaneously, and this solution described above isn't working. What should I do?

Solve error 5100.cannon pixma 145 error always out # 5100

5100 error is a carriage error. Could be caused by the carriage unit, timing strip, logic board or carriage motor. Check that nothing is obstructing the carriage from moving freely and that the clear timing strip is ok.

Service error 5100. Cancel printing and Press OK button. If this doesn't clear the error, see the printer manual for more detail.

Had a same problem, here is what i ve received from canon support:
"Dear Customer,
Thank you for your recent enquiry regarding your Canon product.
Please be advised that error 5100 indicates a carriage error and the machine will require service."

However I managed to solve it by myself by perform few paper path tests as there was a paper jam inside.
