I have a Kenmore dishwasher Model # 665.1376 which has always been a quiet unit. This dishwasher is about 4 years old. Now the dishes still come clean, however the cycles have a loud hum to each except for the dry cycle. Could this be a bearing in the motor, and if so how expensive is a new motor?

I would replace the sump assembly in this case as the motor is $118 and the seals and other parts needed are about $50 and a complete sump assembly is $170 Part #WPW10780877. Also by replacing the assembly you do not have to worry about damaging a seal and having a leak. https://www.searspartsdirect.com/model/3mutwgw41u-000583/kenmore-elite-66513764k602-dishwasher-parts?page=2

SOURCE: Where is the filter on a Kenmore Quiet Guard 2 dishwasher?

I have a Quiet Guard 4. Same problem so will describe my solution.
1. Remove bottom basket. Remove top basket.
2. Remove bottom washing arm. Unscrew (Gently but firmly) the centre post. Lift arm assembly up and out.
3. Remove overhead conduit. One screw at back, one at top (Philips #2 bit). Rotate whole assembly 45 deg right (Clockwise) and lift off of centre post.
4. Remove centre post (Pull straight up). Remove 4 screws (Star T-20 bit). Lift whole assembly out. Pop off screen and clean.
5. Remove cap over cutter/chopper. There is a single screw at front left (under assembly removed in 4). Remove screw (Star T-15 bit) and cap (Needs some wiggling to free it up). Remove cutter and filter. It is on a spring loaded pin. Pull the cutter blade foreward and then the filter disc straight up. Clean thoroughly as it may be the cause of your problems.
Reassimble. Good luck!

SOURCE: Maytag dishwasher quiet series 400. Dishes have hard stuck on grit and food particles after rinsed and dried.

Very common problem is soap build up in these machines. Try putting it into a wash cycle with no dishes, and no soap. Let it wash for about 5 minutes, and then open the door. If you see alot of soap suds, then soap build up is the problem. Try doing a couple loads with no soap, and no dishes, and throw a cup of vinegar into the machine halfway through the wash. Repeat as necessary. This should solve your problem.

SOURCE: Dishwasher making loud noise during wash cycle

It's noisy If your dishwasher seems noisy, check these:

Water-inlet valve
Motor
Heater fan
Pump
Water-inlet valve An aging water-inlet valve can sometimes fail slowly, rather than all at once. It can shudder on and off rapidly, causing the incoming water lines to shake, rumble, and rattle--sometimes violently. If yours is doing this, replace the inlet valve.

Motor If it's the motor that's noisy, either of these may be the "culprit:"

  • As motor bearings wear out, they can become quite loud when the motor runs. They wear out quickly if they frequently get wet, because the water washes away the motor bearing grease. Bearings can get wet if the spin seal is defective. Then there will also be water leaking onto the floor beneath the dishwasher. Replace the seal if it leaks (read about the main tub seal in the "It leaks" section, later).

  • If, from beneath the dishwasher, you can see a round, plastic disc that's mounted to the top of the motor (a "slinger"), it may have broken free of the motor shaft. If so, it could be rattling around the shaft while the motor is running. If that's the problem, you need to replace the motor.

Heater fan If the heater fan bearings are rusted or worn, they may squeal, or scrape loudly during the drying cycle. If this is the problem, replace the fan motor. Alternatively, the fan blade may be loose. If so, you need to replace it.

Pump Small fruit pits, toothpicks, and fragments of glass sometimes get stuck in the pump. When this happens, open the pump and remove the debris. The pump is usually mounted directly to the motor, then attached to the bottom of the dishwasher.

To get to the pump, you usually need to remove the lower rack, the spray arms, and the spray arm support from the inside of your dishwasher. A dishwasher pump isn't obvious. Look for an impeller--a round, plastic fan blade-type device that spins around and pushes the water toward the drain. When you can see the drain impeller, you should be able to see the clogging debris.
thanks and accept the solution accordingly

10 year old Kenmore Ultra is leaking early in the washing cycle. Wondering if this is worth fixing or need to bite the wallet and buying a new one. I am worried about affecting the new cabinets even...

At 10 years old I wouldn't put much if any money into it. Do check the water connections as it may be something simple that just needs to be tightened or a washer replacement. Replacing the valve is a simple and inexpensive fix but don't bother going further than that. If you can't DIY it's not worth spending the money for a service call. Kenmore has a wide range of units at various price levels all built by the major players. I have an 8 year old Kitchenaide (made by Whirlpool) that is very quiet and still runs like new. A new unit will wash better and probably use less energy. If you buy an "EnergyStar" rated model you may qualify for a rebate as well.

Model 665.13732k600 seriel FT4610713 dishes are not getting clean, they look like they have a film on them. Kenmore Ultrawash Quiet Guard Deluxe

The film is the stuff and the old soap backing up in the dishwasher. There is no cure for this. You can have them come out and it won't get fixed because it will happen again. They did not put a large enough drain/disposal on the models. Essentially you are eating old soap - goodness only knows what is in it.

Kenmore Quiet Guard

You dont really need it, when the washer gets done Open the door for a minute and let the steam out and shut the door dishes will then dry. the reason there still wet is because of the steam from the Hot water

Maytag Quiet Series 100, Model # MDB5600AWS, built in dishwasher. Does not get the dishes clean, dishes stay dirty after multiple cycles of washing. Please help!

We also have a Quiet series 100 and had the same problem, the dishes always came out dingy or with food all over them. My washer is about 5 years old and worked well for about 4 of them but the last year has been doing a poorer and poorer job washing the dishes. I finally broke down and removed the racks and all of the plastic parts from the inside of the washer. Doing this revealed that the groves in the under side of most of the plastic parts was clogged with food and debris. After a good scrubbing with water and a brush then reassembly it worked like a new washer again, cleaning the dishes very well and the best part is it saved us about $700.00 for another washer.

Smelly dishes from Kenmore Ultra Wash

If you post the model number of your dishwasher plus its approximate age (in years) I can help more.

But the most common cause is a weakening pump motor. On many dishwashers, the wash pump motor is also the drain motor. Replacing that motor / pump assembly will solve the problem. While you are replacing the pump, check the heating element to confirm that it is not shorted out or broken.

For now, add a cap full of bleach to the water _after_ the initial dishwasher fill cycle ends and the wash cycle begins. White vinegar would also work, but this will not fix your problem.

Good Luck!

Kenmore 74362

I had the same issue and you will never beleive the solution.
Steps to follow:
1) run one full cycle with no dishes or soap
2) run one full cycle with a dishwasher cleaner like Jetdry
3) run one full cycle with a gallon of white vinager
4) never put soap in the extra in and only fill the main soap bin half way.

should work fine from here on out, but never fill main bin more then half way when you do dishes. also run the hot water in the sink until the water is very hot before starting the dish washer.
