Blue line trouble

I have a panasonic 51 in' tv ( pt-51g41) n there is a blueish rainbow line that from the bottom left corner-heading left to right - goes up like a rainbow and then back down. It seems to mirror the images on the bottom of the screen--kind duplicating it. any idea's on how I can fix this???

Hi Kracka,

Are you able to post a picture of the problem?

It sounds from your description that it might be a 'convergence' problem which is when the red, green and blue parts of the image aren't alligned properly.

Check in your menu to see if there is a convergence setting.

Hope this helps

Andy

I have a rear projection panasonic 51" tv with blue curved lines

This can be repaired by a Degaussing coil from most TV repair places. If you haven't already you should shut down the TV and wait till it cools maybe 1 hour or so and then when you turn it on there should be a degaussing circut that might clear this up for you build into the set. Its not that strong a signal and usually takes care of minor discolorations. If it doesn't have that then a shop can come and take care of it pretty fast usually.

Problems with a Panasonic PT-51DX80

Your convergence ICs are bad. You need 2 of them they cost about 10.00 each. If you can solder you can do the repair in about an hour. hey are located on a real huge aluminum heat sink and they will have a number that starts with STK such as STK392-110. Let me know if you need ay additional info.

No picture, just red-blue-green lines through the middle of the screen very faint.

The PT-53WX54 is a standard projection set and does not have a bulb. It has 3 separate picture tubes. If you have lost the picture completely, not even on-screen menu, then something has stopped working in your set. It could be a video processor, vertical deflection or possibly a convergence problem. The set should be serviced by a qualified tech familiar with the Panasonic projection sets.
