Hi, It sounds TV got convergence out ICs failure problem and causing 3D image or outlined picture. There are 2 convergence out ICs mounted on D board in TV that need to be replaced. Let me know if you need part number of ICs if you want to replace by yourself or call local Tv tech to fix it. Thanks.
You can find a new OEM Sony replacement CRT's (red, green, and blue bulbs) for a model # KP51HW40 from a major Sony distributor at the following links:
sounds like the red crt is bad, you can get a replacement at the following link, if your not sure which one you need just leave them a email with your model number and what youre needing. http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/
On the Sony FX43 100Hz 43-inch rear projection TV, three flashes indicates an Over Voltage Protection problem,
occurring in one of the power supply circuits T603 or R672.
The fix will most likely cost more than the set is worth second-hand, I'm afraid.
the model number KP-51WS510 deosnt use a bulb or lamp. and touching the face of the lamp will not cause color problems in the picture. if your tv is an LCD projection then i would suspect the optical engine as the culprit. to check when you turn the tv off do you still see the blue distortion? if so then you have a bad optical engine.......as long as it is an LCD projection.
replace the convergence ICs post your model and I will post a link where you can get the parts and they include step by step instructions with pictures so you can do the repair yourself takes an hour and will save you about a 400 dollar repair bill.
