One problem with digital television is that the carrier frequency of the channels was shifted to a higher frequency vs the old standard . These allotted frequencies require a whole lot more output power at the stations as well as they follow a straight line and the bounce (reflect) off of natural objects such as tree leaves, rain drops moisture, power towers etc. In other words unless you live right next to the transmission tower, you get a lousy picture. Since it is a digital signal, and your receiver does not collect more than a significant portion of the transmission signal, it cannot render the picture so, drop outs causes loss of signal and no picture at times.

That is why most people go to cable or satellite to get a continuous signal.

I would say that unless you put up a good active antennae, you will not get a decent picture. Even then you will not be satisfied. The stations will have to do a lot more work on their signals and up there power levels to compete with cable, but hey, they don't care about their over the air signal since they can sell their signal to the cable operators for lots of bucks and reach more eyes for their advertisers.

Testimonial: "Thanks. May look at a better aerial, ours is installed in the roof (compulsory)and has been there 25 years."

Auto set up finds only some of available programmes. Only ITV channel found is ITV 4. cHANNELS 4 AND 5 not found. Very good reception on programmes it has found. Full range of programmes viewable...

It maybe that the TV needs to be completely reset. in the menu somewhere should be a setting to "restore factory settings" or "reset to default" something like that...

Try this and post the results...

We bought an LG flatscreen TV and a digital...

it's the aerial, tv has nothing to do with channels. it's the signal that carries the channels. i'm pretty sure if you had it hooked up to a cable box, you'll get all the channels, so i'm sure your tv is fine. i would double check on the aerial and positioning the attenna has some factor into it.

Lost ITV channels and C4

I think you need to get Sky because it will give you 100% coverage of all terrestrial channels. You may need to retune the television otherwise just get sky

In London, Uk. I have poor reception of channel 5. have got recently a one for all powered aerial. how do I set it up? Model sv-9140-00-002

Your reception would be much improved by using a free to air digital set top box - only about £20. If you are in east London especially near docklands channel 5 reception with a conventional aerial gives a lot of problems. sv-9140-00-002 is an interior aerial booster - I doubt whether this will improve things much. Best solution is a good outside aerial - if you live in flats is there no communal aerial available?
