You need a burning software to burn your picture files, music, or video.
You can use NERO Burning ROM. Download it from HERE. You can use the "Data Burning" Feature in it to transfer your files into CD or DVD.

1. Check your computer to see that it has a CD or DVD drive that is capable of burning CDs. This drive may be built into your computer or an external drive. Either type should work equally well.
   
2. Make sure you have a CD that can be burned. There are two types of CDs that you can use.
   1. A CD-R (Compact Disc-Recordable) is a Write Once Read Many (WORM) optical medium. This means that once the disk is burned it can not be erased. This type disk is usually used for permanent storage. For example; a music CD, a picture CD, or any other type of data that you want to keep permanently.
   2. A CD-RW (Compact Disc ReWritable) is a rewritable optical disc format. This type of disk can be burned, erase, and then burned again. This type disk is usually used for temporary data storage.
3. Decide on the type of CD you plan to burn. There are many different types of CDs that can be burned and how you proceed depends on which type you are going to burn. The major types of CD that can be burned are:
   1. Music. This type of CD is the type of CD that is normaly burned for use in a home or automobile CD player.
   2. Data. This type of CD is most often used to store files that can be used by a computer. This type of CD can not be used in a standard home or automobile CD player. They are formatted using the "ISO9660" format, which cannot be read by a standard CD player.
   3. MP3. This is a data CD containing only mp3 compressed music files. Because it is actually an ISO9660 data CD, not all CD players will be able to play it. This type of CD can contain a much larger number of songs than a music CD but can only be played on a computer or CD player specifically designed to play MP3s.
   4. Disk image. A disk image file is a file that contains an exact copy of a disk. The most common type of Disk image is an .ISO image. Disk images are usually used for storing an exact copy of a CD on a computer. By using a computer, one can burn a CD from an .ISO image and create a usable CD.
   5. Ripping. Ripping a CD is the process of taking the audio off of one CD and either storing it on a computer or burning it to a second CD, thereby making a copy of the first CD.

   Decide on the software you want to burn your CD with. There are many different programs that are designed to burn CD's. Some are built into the computer's operating system, while others are individual programs. These programs range from very simple to very complex. Some of these are free, while others have to be purchased.

   Burn your CD. Burning your CD is as simple as running the software that you are going to burn your CD with, putting a CD into your CD burner, selecting the data to be burned, and then telling the program to burn the CD

In Windows Media Player, click Library and then, in the List pane, click <List Name> List, and then click Burn List, as shown in the following screen shot.

1. If you need to clear the list before beginning, click Burn List, and then click Clear List.
2. Drag a folder from the Contents pane or songs from the Details pane to the List pane to create a list of songs to burn.
3. In the burn list, drag songs up or down to arrange them in the order you want them to appear on the CD.
4. Insert a blank CD-R or CD-RW disc in the CD drive.
5. In the List pane, verify that the songs you have selected to burn will all fit on the disc. If necessary, remove songs from the list by right-clicking a song and then clicking Remove from List, as shown in the following screen shot.

It is possible that a song will not fit even if the total time exactly matches the CD length, because the Player inserts two seconds between songs when burning. Click the Start Burn arrow and verify that Audio CD is selected, as shown in the following screen shot.

You cannot burn additional files to a CD after burning is completed. If you are using a CD-RW, you can erase the entire CD before using the Player to burn files to the CD again.

Modern CD players usually can read all audio disk burned on any computer system.

If you have an older model however you may experience some problem with certain settings, follow instructions below:

1 Ensure that you burn on CD support, and not a DVD, many computer drive can manage the same way CD and DVD, and burn music on DVD, but the player won't read them.
2 Ensure that you are burning an Audio CD on the cd burning, if you will just burn your MP3 files onto a disk, an ordinary CD player won't read them, unless it has MP3 capabilities.
3 If you have an old system try burning at the minimum possible speed , systems built in 80s and early 90s where limited to low speed, some 80s CD drive could read only 2x or 4x.
4 If your system is old also chose close disk after burning option on burning software, this wont affect new cd players.

To burn cd/dvd you have to check :

1. Your laptop cd/dvd drive have what capability:
- cd writer = only burn cd
- cd writer/dvd reader(combo) = still only burn cd
- dvd writer = can burn cd, dvd single layer(4GB)
- dvd DL writer = can burn cd and dvd single 4GB and dual layer 8GB.
Other than those, is not possible.

2. Must have burn apps named:
- Nero
- Alcohol 120%
- other. search internet.

If you have them then using the apps to burn, just read the manual.

But If you want songs from website, you should download it first.
Unless the site is giving you a step by step how to burn songs directly to your cd/dvd.
Once downloaded, would be easier to burn to cd/dvd.

I had the problem of burned CD's not playing in my car. I used a CD-R and burned it at "slow" burn rate. Now I don't have a problem with playing the cd's in my car player. Try it, it worked for me.
