My Panasonic TH-50PX75U has black bars on the top and bottom of the screen ONLY when I turn on an HD channel. I tried going on Panasonic's FAQ's and it says to change the aspect to zoom to get the black bars off. That only gives me the same picture as the normal channels. How do I fix this?

Try disconnecting all HDMI cables and plugging the TV into a new wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, it may have been caused by a small power surge from either your wall outlet or one of your source devices.
Press the menu button on the TV remote and see if the lines are on top of the menu or covered up by the menu. If the lines are covered up by the menu, the issue is being caused by your source device.
I am sorry but no one can help with that, it is because the original itself is in that ratio. But if u have a zoom option in ur remote then u can remove that black bars.
most cable companies are broadcasting the local stations unencrypted, so you should be able to receive them and sometimes a few other "basic" hd channels like discovery or tnt.
try googling your cable system, city and hd channels to see if someone has posted a list of channels (eg, 88-1 or 102-1)
The best way is to contact your service provider and ask them to trouble shoot guide you, there should be a way to reset or diagnose the receiver or if you prefer go back to the place you bought it and ask for a replacement, You should still have the manufacturer's warranty, check that as well.
