Hi, I have a Turboair Problem with the Turbo Air

Hi, I have a Turboair Problem with the Turbo Air Freezers Hi, I have a Turboair 2 door reach in freezer. The issue is that it is not getting cold. It worked great but had been unplugged for about 5 months. When I turned it on the digital readout on the top read "CO" I am guessing that it needs to be charged but needed advice as well and didn't want to get killed from a over priced service call. Model number is GST 40DF kind regards, Tim View Comments Comments and Clarifications: timsol2 hours ago Everything is running including the compressor. It goes through a complete cycle and then shuts off as normal but it is still warm inside the unit. Any idea what the "CO" represents as it may be an error code and perhaps needs to be reset. The unit is very clean uptop and I noticed that the line from the compressor is not cold. What you want to do, find the compressor on this unit, below in back or front, or some are on top. Make sure you feel it running, and see if the condenser fan motor by the compressor is also running. Check the condenser coil and make sure its clean, and make sure the indoor evaporator fan is running. These are things you can check on your own to find out if something is going on with a part. The only time a unit needs freon is if it has had a leak in the passed, and it was never repaired, so it lost its charge when it was shut down for sometime. Check these things and get back to me. We can figure this out. Shastalaker7 A/C, Heating, & Refrigeration Contractor Add a comment for shastalaker7Report abuse Posting advertisements, profanity, or personal attacks is prohibited. Tried to find the code "CO" in service manual but to no avail and please furnish the proper model number as none you list appeal. You stated that the unit sat for 5 months so I am wondering if your unit has developed a restriction in the capillary tube as this unit uses R 134A which has this problem.

SOURCE: Hi, I have a Turboair

You may want to clean out the coils on the back and underneath the front as this is a common problem with most refrigerators and freezers. use a long skinny brush ( you can get one from your local hardware store ) and carefully sweep out that buildup, being careful to not be forceful as this may damage one of the lines. If this does not do the trick then you will probably need to call the service technician.
Good luck!!

Turbo Air TGF-15SDW-N White Glass Door Merchandising Freezer. My turbo air freezer wont turn on tgf-15sdw-n

Question edited for greater clarity.
Question moved from 'Power Computers' to Freezers.

Disconnect the mains power for 5 minutes to reset the control board. If that doesn't fix it, call for service.

My unit is a Turbo Air commercial freezer model: TSF-49SD, only reach 30 F, the low pressure is 60 Psi, the high pressure is 240 Psi, fan condenser is ok , two fans inside are ok, coils clean, what's wrong

Since there is no mention of the refrigerant, and some models are now using R-290 (propane), it's hard to tell what these pressures represent. My suggestion is to remove the refrigerant and weigh in the exact amount the manufacturer requires. This eliminates alot of guess work and is usually the best place to start.

I have a Turbo Air TGF-49F freezer and it is not cooling. The compressor unit seems to work but when I turn the unit on all I hear is the compressor running continuously but nothing gets cold.

Difficult for you to check this I'm afraid, if the fan on the cooling unit is working unless you have an experienced 'ear' you will not hear the compressor running or worse still occasionally clicking.
Possible faults are
1. Compressor not running (the fan will run even if the compressor does not) electrical fault
2. Compressor seized (consult your service guy) also true for the rest of these
3. Compressor not pumping
4. Refrigerant leak

Not much hope for a cheap repair

I have a commercial reach in Turbo Air 2 door freezer that is 1 year and 2 months old. The compressor is going out.....Why would it happen?

I've never heard of "Points going out" and I've been doing commercial refrigeration since '85. I can only guess that he is referring to either the potential relay or the current relay. In either case, the part costs about 30 bucks and takes about 30 minutes to install. I'd look for a second opinion for sure.

Where can I order extra shelves and support clips for GST 40GF

Call Rick at Restaurant Parts and More in Ohio. Give him the model and serial numbers and he can match what you need. FYI, most Turbo Air freezers are also Masterbilt. Turbo Air does the private lable thing for Master bilt.

Hope this helps.

Msf-49nm evaportor pan and drain iced up

I deal with MasterBilt which is a private lable made by TurboAir.
I have several units but only one does this icing up thing. Look for a bad seal on the door gasket. These really ice up if that does not seal almost perfectly. Look for premature termination of the defrost cycle. Check that the heater is pulling amps. The wiring diagram at "turboairinc.com" is very poor but it shows 2 heaters for the refrigerator. They list a diagram for the freezer but it's not there. I know for sure that there is a heater for the evap but don't know about the drain. I've seen some have it and some don't. there tech support line has much to be desired but it's worth a shot. Also, the bottom hinge on the door fails fairly regularly. This allows the door to drop just enought to disengage the switch at the top of the door and stop the evap fan from running, thus causing a freeze up.
Good Luck . You got your hands full with this one.

Turbo air freezer

Check the time setting on the defrost timer. It may not be set to the correct number of minutes for defrost. Compare it with the side that is working properly for the right time of the cycle.

Commercial Freezers

I have worked in a lot of kitchens and don't really have a preferance. The top mounted compressor is better for you as it is easier to service and leaves more cabinet room. Dirt and dust also stay near the floor. YOu won't have to clean the filter as often up high The disadvantage to this in a kitchen is that kitchens are hot and up high is hotter still. Order a cheaper model. No glass doors, no stainless steel. You don't need these features.
