Lens screen stuck open and no image on LCD view screen.

It is jamming, the only really fix is to have it repaired, that costs a lot and it is sometimes better to just replace the camera.

Sony TRV730 won't recognize or play back video in Digital 8 format. Anyone out there who can fix it cheap?

Disconnect the battery from the cam, it possible that it has a pocessor that is lock up and if youleave the battery out for a while it will reset back to normal.

Blue screen

In the playback mode, the screen is suppose to be blue, till you start the tape playing, but if you get the blue screen in the record mode, I have not idea how to help you. You should see what the camera lens see, when in record mode.

Video recording shuts down after 15 seconds

I just looked at my Sony DCR-TRV30. Not the same, but perhaps similar. My camera records lengthy videos on tape and only brief videos on memory stick. I suggest that you stick to tape for video.

Mode for playback of older 8mm tapes using Sony DCR-TRV730 ?

In 1990s Sony camcorder records movie in analog format so playing in digital camcorder like DCR-TRV730 doesn't mean it will be converted in digital format and you can not import file in PC for editing purpose. You will get analog signal while playing back old cassettes.

Regarding SP, LP speed, its decided at time of recording. Camera sens SP or LP automatically in playback and set itself accordingly.

If you want to convert old cassettes into digital format, connect our camcorder to DVD recorder and burn DVD which is digital format, copy DVD files in to PC and do desired editing.

Tv monitor turns blue during forward or reverse vcr search

On some TV's the screen will go blue if there is not a strong, solid video signal present. This is to prevent the showing of very snowy or all snow channels, or garbled, mixed-up external video signals. This is normal. On some VCR's the video signal changes when the FF or REW search feature is used, and this could trigger the TV to go to blue screen. The only way around this if you can enter the TV's menu and turn off the blue screen feature.
