SHARP 168D - Won't print from RDP session

I have a 168D that will print 1 out of 7 times from my RDP session. Ive already tried by doing print directly to the printer and that didn't work.

Oh and yes i updated the drivers and tried to use it as a shared printer on the network and also as a shared through the RDP connection and get the same issue either way.

  • jscheponik Jun 27, 2008

    Yes, every time

No, its not a firewall issue because it will print once ever 6 or 7 tries

Does the printer print directly without an RDP session?

It might have something to do with your RDP connection. The printer isn't behind a firewall is it?

I can tell you as a Sharp technician you are going to have trouble finding support on RDP connections.

They are unpredictable and they can drop connections. A lot of times it can happen from the way the signal is traveling from your computer to the other computer.

These copiers are only designed to be used on local area networks. If you need to send documents remotely like that, the best way to do it is to upload them to a shared folder on a server if there is one on the network or to an ftp server. Thats what the Sharp manuals tell you to do.

It's also a security risk as well sending documents that way which is another reason why Microsoft is pulling the plug on support for that feature.

    Good luck on that.

Sharp AR168D not printing

Look above the shelf where copies come out. If you see a disk about 1.5 to 2" across , it may have been bumped into the "locked" position.
Either turn it 90 degrees or take it out & throw it away.

My SHARP AR-168D is not recognizing a new toner cartridge.

Make sure what you've got is Sharp's AR168NT and not AR152NT. Sharp mades changes about a year ago to their toner and the chip on an AR152NT will not work with an AR-168D model.

Sharp AR 168D will not print from PC

Try disabling the print queue. In windows 2000 go to printers, then properties of the canon printer, advanced and select "Print directly on the printer".
Also try printing from another computer and replacing the interface cables.

Copier wont print

Your unit is fine. Check the paper setting in your word processor and you will find that you are selecting either: (1) special paper type or (2) special paper size.
