Your problem is most likely one of three things: the zoom rocker (or wires connecting it to the main control) have gone bad, the zoom motor has failed, or you have bad capacitors in the camera which are causing the controls to not operate as they should. In any case, the camera will probably need servicing to restore it to complete function.

To perform a factory reset on the Zoom R16 recorder, follow these steps:
  1. Power off the Zoom R16 by pressing and holding the [STOP] button.
  2. While holding down the [STOP] button, press and hold the [REWIND] button and the [PLAY] button.
  3. Continue holding all three buttons for about 5 seconds until the display shows "Factory Reset."

Zoom auto resets

suppose you want to make it 150% ... follow below instructions
Open Regedit and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Zoom. In the right-hand pane is a listing for ZoomFactor. Double-click on it and click the button next to Decimal. Change the value from 100000 to 150000, click OK, and exit Regedit. Now every time you open IE, it should be zoomed into 150%. This will also zoom any new tabs that are opened.

Hi. I have a Sony TRV99 camcorder. First the zoom function stopped working then within a couple minutes, the playblack, rewind and fast foward buttons stopped working. Every other function still works...

Control switch block is defective in your CCD-TRV99 camcorder and requires replacement, part number is as follows..
1-475-618-41 SWITCH BLOCK, CONTROL(FK-8500)
Its complete switch block that has tele-zoom,playback, stop, rewind/ forward and pause etc buttons.
Check below exploded view that gives you an idea what is this part..

Switch block control is available in Part Store.

How to use the Zoom

I assume you mean when pressing the W or T buttons the zoom feature does not work. Try to reset the camera to the factory default settings and this should enable the zoom feature to work again. To do this go to Ok button and then to Mode Menu - then to Setup tab and then right arrow to Reset. hit the right arrow and you will see Reset Yes or No. Highlight Yes and press Ok. Camera should be in factory settings and zoom option will function.

FX8 all button frozen

I am not sure if this is a solution. but one time, i turned on my camera when the battery is really drained. usually (when it was broken) it will automatically zoom in. but that certain period when i turned it on, even before it can zoom in, the battery drained and the camera went off. i charged the battery and when i put it back and turned on the camera, it works fine. it is still working fine. good thing i didnt had the repair center fix it, because they charge really high price.

Canon 430EX Flash

I have a 430ex and S5, I don't think the zoom head will move without being mounted on a camera.

If the flash test fires ok, then it should be fine.
