It is possible that the remote buttons are starting to fail. Most remotes these days don't really have mechanical button switches inside, but instead have PC board traces, which form a closed contact when the conductive rubber behind each button presses against them. It is possible to disassemble most of these remotes and clean the contacts. Usually all the buttons are together on one big piece, and all the conductive rubber pads will be easy to see. Clean all of it with alcohol and q-tips, (93% or better), and clean all the PC board traces too. Hardest thing is putting it all back so everything lines up exactly. The older the unit, the more likely this is the problem. Treat the remote to new batteries while you're at it, and you just might have solved your problem for another couple years.

Check the 2 main interconnection cables (24pin and 26pin) rear of PDP and Tuner box. Make sure they are firmly connected. (Loose connection of 24pin will cause no power on symptom.)

You can check the board where the components are mounted and resolder any that look bad. a brief power outages may cause the TV to turn off on its own. If you are using a surge protector, try connecting the set directly to the wall outlet. In your case it could caused by a blown fuse, a leaky diodes or a bad solder joint at the horizontal drive transformer. all can be replaced at a local electronic or hardware store and they're easy to replace If this does not correct the problem, you may need to have your TV serviced.
Hi, you did not say how many times the red led flashes. This is an important clue as to where the problem might be. On some 6th generation plasmas, a regulator in the power supply could cause that problem and had to be replaced with an improved version.

Adjust the automatic shut off settings on the set using the menu system. the newer models are programmed to shut down to avoid the burn-in problem associated w/ plasma scenes.

try unplugging while the TV is still on and plug it back after 5 mins and check. it should work.
Mine did. I know this may be a crude method, but it worked.
If
the TV does not go into standby press the TV button then the standby
button, then TV then standby, keep repeating this until successful. This
will scan the codes used for a particular make of TV.
Please keep me posted.
Thanks.
