SOURCE: I need to replace the torsion spring on the ice

there should be two small holes on either side of the face plate,
push a small nail in those the face plate will pull off
once you have the face plate of, it should be fairly obvious how to remove the padles and springs
hope this helps

Door does not stay closed

If you gently push up on the door latch heads (hook-like devices sticking out of the door) there should be spring tension. If they just flop right up, the spring is off inside.

Normally the problem is not the spring, but a broken spring mounting tab on the door latch head (hook) assembly or the inner door panel.

If it's the door panel, it's usually easier and cheaper to use epoxy and some kind of hardware to fashion a new spring mount.

The door latch head (hook) is easy to replace or repair if that's the issue.

The service manual for the R-408LS (the model you posted it under) is here.

You can order parts from the Sears Parts Direct Web site.

Replace door springs

Yes , you are right this seems only a mechanical problem and it can be rectified by resetting and replacing the hinges or the spring associated with the stay on the door.

My dishwasher door springs appear not to work and will not hold the door open. How do you replace or reattach the springs? Thanks, JoAnne

they actually arent springs, it is a cable and has probably broken or come apart. You can order this part through KitchenAid and replace yourself. Or call a repair rep.

Door spring does not work.

bryan,
I do not have a place to order parts for a Neff dishwasher, but I know these dishwashers have springs in each hinge that will wear out/break over the years.
Replacing those springs will stop the door from drooping open.
Good Luck!

Door does not latch when closing on Sharp Carousel model R1480 Ser.# 221885 Microwave oven

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here but the best place to order Sharp parts is Tritronics.

Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the screws you need to remove.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) here that demonstrates how it's done.

We have an old Sharp Carousel R-1440 that works great, except for the door latch broke (i.e. doesn't work at all now). Can we replace just the door?

Kitchenaid Microwave torsion spring replacement

I just replaced torsion spring 4452396 on my microwave. We heard a "pop" and then the door got heavy. here are a couple things I learned...THE HARD WAY!
We had the stainless steel front to the door and needed spring 4452396, not 4451008. The stainless steel door is heavier so therefore a stiffer spring. I'm not sure i could justify the 4x cost in the part...but that's just the way it is. It's a bit of a pain to repair the thing..so it's worth it to get the correct spring. You don't wan to be doing this every couple of of months!
You have to remove the front panel of the door to access the springs. there are 2 of them...they cross each other in an "x" pattern on the lower part of the door. We had to pull the unit out a bit to get the spring in the hole for correct position. No need to remove the door etc. If you need help with this...email me.
My mistake was when I was trying to figure out how to gain access to the springs I assumed you did from the inside of the door. I removed the two black things you see on the lower right/left of the door (screw on the bottom of them) then proceeded to remove the two recessed screws on the inside top corners of the door. Well next thing i know.....CRASH! the whole front of the door fell off and shattered! Come to find out those screws and brackets on the bottom hold the face of the door on. The glass is intergrated into the color panel of the door..so it's one piece! 150.00 later and a new piece of glass/panel i learned a hard lesson.
Let me know if you need help...it's fairly easy to do now that I look back on it. dave [email protected]
