Question about Samsung Microwave Ovens

1 Answer

Our 2006 Samsung Microwave has suddenly ceased to heat anything. The clock works and the turn table goes around, but that's it. We had a couple of power outages just before this happened. Could it be there is a fuse or reset button somewhere? If so, is it something we can access or do we need a repair person? Model SMH7178STE Serial Number 7MTL7001236L 1.65kW Manufactured July 2006 in Malyasia 120 Vac 60 Hz

Press the "Off/Clear' button to cancel anything on the display, and reset the microwave. This is a soft reset and will simply get you out of any program you have started. Press it when the cooking complete reminder appears on the display.
Perform a hard reset. Pull the plug out of the wall power supply, and wait a moment. Plug the GE microwave back into the wall power supply to reset any anomalies with the microwave's memory. You will need to reset the time of day if you perform a hard reset.
Reset the time of day. Press the "Clock" button, and turn the dial to set the hours. Press the dial to enter. Follow the same procedure for the minutes and a.m. or p.m. Press the "Start" button to start the clock.

    Most ranges today
use 3 different types of door is a solenoid controlled lock ( you hear a loud
buzz noise when setting or unlocking the lock and has a arm that you must move to set the
lock )...another is a heat sensitive lock ( has a arm that you must move to lock and
un-lock, makes no noises and has a spring that slowly moves to lock the door will the oven
is heating up )...Some locks are motorized ( no handle to move, the motor locks the door
by it's self when you set the range for self clean )... If the motorized and heat
sensitive locks fails to open after the self clean cycle, you must access the lock and
move it yourself to open the door. On the free standing ranges, most times you must lift
the cook top to access the lock mechanism. On built in ovens, the oven must be pulled out
to remove the top access panel to get at the lock mechanism. Some build in ovens can have
the control console removed to access the lock system. On the
heat sensitive style of lock, there are no
electrical parts to operate the lock, usually you will need to replace the lock.

Microwave no heating

It sounds like the magnetron failed.
Check this link for more info and maybe a way for you to test it for functionality. If you are uncertain on what and how to do it, I would suggest to take to a repair tech.
