I have recently purchased a new computer which has the Windows "Vista" system installed and I can no longer scan anythig into this new computer with my Lexmark X3470. What do I need to do to fix this problem?

Delete any new programs that you have downloaded.

Please find the vista driver for this printer at this link. Follow the instructions to install properly.

Hopefully this file will also have driver for scanner.

Most likely you had some data corruption in the files that handle this feature and so when you try to reinstall it the files are not getting properly replaced.

So what you need to do is fully uninstall all the software from the system. Then next browse to the install folder where the software was installed on your computer and delete the whole folder.

After you do this reinstall the software and drivers. If you still have trouble you may have an issue with Windows its self.

A solution to that is to install Windows Vista Ultimate on top of your old vista installation. Just insert your Vista DVD and restart your computer. And simply follow the instructions for the installation.

If you place your Win7 disk in the DVD drive boot the laptop from the disk and choose to install a new system.
Follow the menu and prompts.
When it has installed download the drivers from Acer.com otherwise you will get problems.

Instead of trying to upgrade, try uninstalling the driver completely and installing the driver directly from Intel.

Additionally, Vista has what is called User account conrol (UAC) interface. This will start the installation program without administrator privileges.

Locate the setup file on the disk, click right mouse button on file, and from the drop down menu chose "Run as Administrator"

Unfortunately if there is no driver for Vista, then your out of luck. Since Vista is a widely used OS and getting bigger, then the MyBook manufactures must create a Vista driver soon or they will be in danger of going out of business. Just wait and periodically check the MyBook website for new drivers.
