Hello,

if you can open and self tech your unit you will find out the connection lessen, resoldered all the connection. however, if the fault is not visible you can do a series of testing because parts in it get busted specifically in the audio output. BUt some instance can be solve by hard reset. remove the battery and take a while and fix battery back and start and test.

I have an Onkyo TX-SR501 reciever/home theater amp. The sound works fine in home theater mode, but no sound when FM mode selected, but fine in AM mode. Have checked Antenna.

Hi Anil, please make sure the the receiver is locked into the station. It should read FM Stereo when locked in. Thank you, Onkyo USA

Onkyo TX-SR309 - Sound output only from 2 speakers from five. Hi, I have a Onlyo TX-SR309 receiver connected to a Wharefedale MS100HCP speaker package. It was working fine for 15 months but now the...

Some info from the manual:
The Dolby Digital and DTS listening modes can only be selected if your Blu-ray Disc/DVD player is connected to
the AV receiver with a digital audio connection (coaxial,
optical, or HDMI).
• The listening modes you can select depends on the format of the input signal. To check the format, see "Displaying Source Information"
• While a pair of headphones is connected, you can select the following listening modes: Mono, Direct, and Stereo.
• While Speakers A and B are on, you can select only the
Direct, Stereo, Mono, or T-D (Theater-Dimensional) listening mode.

Plus this Bit of info on the speakers A and B buttons.
While Speakers B is on, channels are reduced to 2.1 in the
main room.

If you can access the speaker configuration it should provide test tones to each speaker. If you can't the speaker A and B are not set right.
If you have pressed the stereo or mono button no sound will be heard except from the front two or the sub.

Message states the power to zone 2 is not activated when trying to listen to zone 2 speakers. Nothing in my manual about this message. How do I activate power to zone 2 on a tx-sr601

Page 77:

"Not available in Zone 2 mode" Setting not allowed because the Zone 2 mode is turned on.

"Zone 2 is not On" Will not work because the Zone 2 has not been turned on.

TURN ZONE 2 ON.

Page 55 shows the prerequisite settings for using the surround back terminals for Zone 2.

Page 60 describes USING Zone 2 and points out that only analog sources can be used with Zone 2. Are you trying to use digital sources? Read the notes regarding REC OUT.

No sound in listening modes except pure audio and direct. Was working fine and just stopped one day. Connections are all good. Surround sound seems to be broken?

Check the input mode on the reciever so that they are set for dual, rather than just digital or analog. It might be set for analog and your using a digital optical in cable. Also make sure DTS mode is turned off, unless your watching a DVD that is dts enabled.

No sound when dvd input is selected on onkio tx-ds696

Make sure your DVD setting is looking at the right audio inputs. Usually there is a menu option or a button to toggle from analog or digital input. Usually when no-sound but video ok, you have the wrong input-type selected. If you are using 2 RCS's (red/white) then you want ANALOG input mode. If you are usung a single RCA (orange) or a fiber optic input for audio, you want DIGITAL input selected. If digital os selected, make sure you plug into the correct digital input to hear. If it does not work at first, mofe the jack/fiber around into the different inputs untill you hear sound, then you will know which port is associated with the DVD setting. Unless it is self evident feom the menu.
