Mostly, printer cartridge error occurs when the printer head is unable to identify the cartridge properly. And the basic reason behind this is that the cartridge is improperly attached. To reattach the cartridge, turn on the lid of the printer and then remove the cartridge from the printer head. Check the cartridge to make sure that there are no scratches or other damaged parts that can contribute to a printer cartridge error report. Take note that the cartridge should not be left open for more than 30 minutes; otherwise the ink will start to dry up and the cartridge will get clogged.
I have an HP Photsmart C4100 printer. I purchased remanufactured ink cartridges (both black and tri-colored) from Vivasmart. The black one works fine, but when I installed the tri-color, I got an error message that says "Print cartridge problem" The following print cartridge has a problem:
Tri-color. And I can't print. The screen on my printer says "Remove and check color cartridge." I have done this several times and it still won't print. I have turned off the power, removed the cartridges, and unplugged the unit, but it still didn't help. Any suggestions?

After making the original posting above I discovered what the problem was. There is a wire spring along the right side of the ink cartridge that positions the ink cartridge. In my case a small plastic tab that helps to hold the spring in place broke off and allowed the spring to fall out of place and thus no longer hold the cartridge properly in place. The plastic tab was in the tray below.
It might be possible to epoxy the tab back in place. That's what I would try knowing what I know now. I tried shimming the cartridge on the side to hold it in place but ended up ruining the contacts on the printer. So now I have a black and white printer.
