On my Lionel Holiday Tradition Express the handheld remote works yet with the train will not respond. All connections have been cleaned and that is not the problem. I did notice that the wheels on the locomotive can not be turned by hand, is this a sign that the motor is locked? If so is ther a user solution?

The drive is a worm system and the wheels will not turn. One very,very important thing is that the aluminum track leaves particals on the rubber bands of the large drive wheels. Believe it or not, it will conduct the track current into the large drive wheels which are metal and cause just enough of a short to cause the train to only move a short distance and stop. When using the set alot in December, the wheels will have to be cleaned often. I use track cleaner and very,very fine sand paper and also keep the track clean. You will see what appears to be aluminum color on the rubber if you turn the engine upside down. One way you can tell if this is a problem is have someone hold the engine so the wheels are off the track and turn it on. If it runs fine, this is the problem.
