Software wont install on my computer for samsung s85 camera

The camera should have came with a software CD. Install the software and drivers from the CD and plug your camera into the computer with the supplied cable and the computer will read your camera as a drive. Then you can just drag and drop the pictures from the camera folder to your computer.
Or you can buy a cheap USB card reader that will read either MMC or SD card depending on what you're using. Then you don't need to plug in camera to computer. You would need to remove the memory card and plug it into the USB card reader.

You might also want to consider NOT connecting the camera to the computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). 2. install your camera .
3. Make default your printer for your camera.
4. on your printer, then c$onnect your camera with detacable and then on your camera.
5. go and print your photo from camera.
6. print will start.

Something SIMILAR happened with my Samsung S85. Your situation sounds different in that you say you can view a limited number of images (on the camera?).
I my case it had pictures on the camera, that I had deleted after down loading, from the computer interface window. They did not show up on the computer interface window when I downloaded other pictures. Eventually the camera filled up with pictures but there were none on the computer interface window.
I had to go back and delete the pictures from the camera itself - one by one.

I have had similar symptoms that seem to be due to battery power.
Using and OHM meter I find that the Samsung S85 eats batteries. If the charge drops to 1.4 something volts from a 1.5+ volt battery, the camera does not function properly.
The camera is nice an compact ... but I need to carry the same volume in batteries to make sure I can use it.
