SOURCE: dell blue screen tests got data bus system
Hi,
I presume you ran the 32bit
Dell diagnostics. The memory test failure indicates that the memory module has
failed. If you have more than one memory installed, you can try removing one at
a time and run only the memory test (from Custom test option), this way you can
isolate the faulty memory. If you have a warranty for the computer, Dell would
replace the memory for you (Check warranty status from http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/my_systems_info/manuals?~ck=ln&c=us&l=en&lnki=0&s=gen
)
As for your other problem “it
just does nothing when i type r for recovery”, you would need to go to the
bios, under the “Drives” tree, under “SATA operation” you would need to change
option one to two and save and exit. This is applicable on for the Dim 8400.
But you would not need to do this if the prvious steps resolve you issue
Hope this helps. Please rate
your feedback!
Thanks,
VJ

memory has gone bad. memory needs to be replaced. memory stress failure is the memory failure no second thought to this.

It sounds like you are having memory issues with your computer. The best thing you can do is just replace the memory the computer sounds just fine you just need new memory. If you go to this link http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134117&cm_re=DDR2-800-_-20-134-117-_-Product on newegg.com. Order these sticks of memory you would be fine. All you need to do is just open up the dell case. Remove the old memory sticks from the main motherboard. Then install the new sticks and you will be able to reboot your system and should run just fine.
Testimonial: "It was definitely just a memory stick issue, I figured out which memory stick was bad & removing it immediately fixed the issue."
