What is DVD Super Multi DL drive - Acer (KV.16X04.007) DVD Drive

I ran into the same problem and found a program on www.download.com Type dvd repair, this program will fix most issues and worth saving on a flash drive, or hard drive for future repairs.

This Super-Multi Drive will write to dual layer DVDs (DVD+R DL or DVD-R DL) at a 4x speed. The full specs of the Acer 5742 are available here: http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/notebook/2010/Acer/Aspire/Aspire5742/Aspire5742sp2.shtml .

You should be able to place a dual layer dvd in the drive and have it recognized. Windows may ask you if you want to format the disc.

a) Check your PC sound settings, make sure your CD/DVD drive O/P is included.

b) Your media player doesn't have the right codecs. Go to filehippo.com download and install VLC media player. Should work a treat.

" This model of computer does not have a blu-ray drive unless you got a third party upgrade. In this case, you will need to track down special drivers, which can best be done by whomever sold you the drive.

click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll down cd dvd rom drives if you see a yellow question mark? right click you will have options to update driver once you have select update windows will ask where to find the driver and if you want to connect to the internet
click start control panel administrive tools ,computer management ,device manager look through all of your devices if you see a yellow question mark?or exclamation mark ! or red x
right click to reinstall drivers if your computer came with a motherboard disk the driver could be on it

Hmm, it seems that I have had a similar problem with my own dvd burner. Seems that the Laser used for DVD burning is broken or not working properly or you just need a firmware upgrade of your external DVD writer (you did mention reinstalling software, not firmware please clarify which one of the two it was).

OVERALL:
In case the hardware misbehaves - Get a cotton swab soak it a bit in alcohol and try to clean the laser eye-lens inside the drive that reads/writes on the disks. It is usually located when you open up the drive. *NOTE: dont use too much alcohol and let it dry completely before using.


In case there is a software issue - Download the latest firmware for the specific LG multi drive burner or ask more details/user manuals on the product on the official support page HERE. NOTE THAT this product is discontinued.

I have an LG GP08NU6B Portable DVD Drive. Although I can see Videos on the Laptop, when connected, I am unable to get any Audio. Would Appreciate if you would assist in this matter. Tks & Brgds BJ.

You need a slim DVDrom drive. Most computer sites that sell things have a number. Here is one from AXOINTECH.COM . This is a DVD/RW. This needs a fast new computer to operate properly.
