This can happen if the mini USB plug on the charger cord is not pushed fully into the back of the satnav. Sometimes because of wear on the socket it appears to be fully in when it's not. Try pushing it in further and see if it solves the problem.

I NEED TO UPDATE MAPS ONTO MY 1300 AND IM NOT SURE WHAT CABLE GOES INTO THE PORT ON MY SAT NAV

You connect your satnav to the computer with a mini USB lead. The narrow part, which is the same as the plug on the car charger, goes into the back of the satnav in the same socket that the car charger goes into. The USB connector goes into the USB port of the computer.

If you didn't get a mini USB lead with your satnav you might have one for another appliance that connects to your computer which would do the job. The same type of lead comes with most external hard drives and some camcorders and digital cameras. They are also sold in computer shops.

How do I charge my garmin 1300 gps

You can charge it using the car charger that came with it by plugging it into the cigarette lighter socket of your car and the narrow end into the back of the satnav. You need to have power going to the cigarette lighter socket. On some cars that means that the car has to be running. There's a little led (light) on the plug which shows when it's receiving power. Charging this way takes about 4 hours.

You can also charge the satnav using an optional mains charger which also takes 4 hours.

Finally you can charge it by connecting it to the USB port of a computer for 8 hours. Both the computer and the satnav need to be on.

There's a battery state indicator on the screen of the satnav which shows if the battery is charged or not, on the screen which shows WHERE TO and VIEW MAP. It only shows when the satnav is not connected to a power source so you need to stop charging it to view it.

Am needing to update my Mio satnav but am having difficulty. Having connected it to my computer with the relevant usb cable and loaded the original dvd into my driver I get error messages as follows: 1 A...

Mio uses a tricky little thing to up date, If i remember right on the cd or dvd whichever one you got there should be a program called Active sync or something like that that installs under windows. This program must be running and MUST be installed for you to update any MIO product.

Make sure that this program in installed and running on your computer and then hook up your device. It should be found fairly fast by active sync. Once it has been found and device permissions setup you should be able to update following the procedures you received with the update.

Hope this helps

I dont know how to charge my GARMIN nuvi 1200 with the usb cable

There are 3 ways to charge your garmin nuvi 1200 as follows;
  1. Connect your satnav to a computer with the mini USB cable. Plug the narrow end into the satnav, where the power cable goes, and the other end into the USB port of your computer. Both computer and satnav must be turned on. It will take about 8 hours to charge like this.
  2. Connect your satnav to your car charger and plug the charger into the cigarette lighter socket of your car. It will take about 4 hours to charge.
  3. You can get an optional mains charger which also takes 4 hours to charge the satnav.

I have a garmin nuvi 200. I'm having problems trying to charge the device. I have tried charging it in my car as well as the computer. Once I try charging it a black screen appears that says garmin as...

This is meant to happen when it's connected to your computer but not to your car charger. Sometimes it happens, when connected to a car charger, because the mini USB plug on the charger lead doesn't go in far enough into the satnav. It feels like it's fully in but it's not. If you push it in further it should solve the problem.

It takes 8 hours approx to charge a satnav connected to your computer but only 4 hours approx with the car charger or mains charger.

My garmin 1300 shows that its hooked up to a computor when I hook into to car charger. This week end it just quit working wile I was on a trip

This is sometimes caused by a problem with the mini USB plug which does not go fully into the socket of the satnav. It appears to be fully in but it's not. Push it in further and it may solve the problem.

I was given a Garmin Nuvi 1350 for my birthday about nine months ago ...I still haven't used it. I think my husband forgot to pick up an instruction book. Is it possible to email me one, and also list...

There's a manual available in adobe reader format at http://static.garmincdn.com/pumac/3130_OwnersManual.pdf
There should have been a car charger with the satnav. It has a plug that goes in the cigarette lighter socket of the car on one end and the other end has a mini USB plug that goes in the back of the satnav. Charging with this charger takes about 4 hours though it can be charged while using the satnav. For the first charge you should leave it on until it's fully charged.

There should also be a mini USB lead with the satnav that can be used to connect it to a computer. Connecting it to a computer also charges it though this method takes about 8 hours.

Mains chargers can be bought seperately from shops which sell garmin satnavs.

When plug car charger in the screen comes up with computor on. and then will not go any further works good if charger is not pluged in

It could be a problem with the mini USB plug not going in far enough in the socket on the back of the satnav. Due to wear it can appear that the plug is fully in when it's not. Try pushing it in further and the problem may be solved.

When I connect the car charger, it displays a picture of a desktop computer. The maps go away and I have to disconnect the charger for it to operate properly.

This is a common problem with the Garmin 200 series of satnavs. It's caused by the mini USB plug of the power lead not being fully pushed in to the back of the satnav. Because of the way it's made it feels like it is fully in but it's not. Push it in further and it should be ok.
