Do your service provider limits number of ip address (10.10.10.10) you can have? if they provide only one, you would need to use a router to share one public ip address. Sometimes it records the network address of your network device (00:00:00:00), and won't give u another ip if the device changed. If you have two routers in your network, turn off the dhcp on the second router, and use LAN ports and do not use the WLAN on the second router. if you want to manage the second router, give it an static ip from the first router. Bad port? Bad cable? Modem => router => PC/IPOD/switch or modem => router => PC/IPOD/Switch/ 2nd Router without dhcp and no WLAN ) Good luck

SOURCE: D-Link Wireless Router WBR-1310, Version A1

I had the same problem.

Make sure you turn off all the security with the software in package then slowly turn it all back on, on piece at a time. For whatever reason, it comes with MAC address filtering already turned on, which makes it impossible to see if you don't have the right info put in to the computer that the router was configured with.

With power on, push & HOLD reset button on rear of router for at least 10 secs - then release. UNplug power to the cable modem while you're doing all this. Then, plug power to modem back in, and try router connect to computer again.
Please let me know - and if you wouldn't mind, please take the time to rate my response to you.

Thank you and good luck.

SOURCE: Not able to configure and connect to internet using router

Manually configure the setting in your LAN, this could help.

Connect a LAN cable between LAN1 of your router then to the LAN port of your computer. Power the router.

Goto Lan settings, highlight TCP/IP, then click properties.

In your lan settings manually input IP address 192.168.0.52, Subnet 255.255.255.0, gateway 192.168.0.1

You can input also the DNS number of your IP.

Then open web browser type in the address bar 192.168.0.1. You should go straight thru router utility setup security log in.

This can also be set wirelessly. Leave comments if I miss something.

Internet weirdly slow on Motorola SBG6580 DOCSIS 3.0 f

So If you have internet connection speed problem with your wireless router, try with the following steps.
1.)Reset the wireless router by using the power switch on it or by unplugging it and plugging it back in.
2.)Place the wireless router in an ideal location. The higher it is, the better, but don't put it near metal objects.
3.)Get as close as possible to the router with whatever device you're trying to connect.
4.)Keep the router and your connecting device away from other electronics. You should especially keep away from phones, fax machines and microwaves. etc.,
5.)Adjust the WiFi antenna if it has one.
6.)Change the router's channel, especially if other wireless routers are nearby.Following these steps would give you stable internet connection and also increased speed in connection. You can check your internet speed from ScanMySpeed.com before and after following these steps.

I can't acces the facebook in my laptop, it says that it cannot contact the server...what should i do?

Dear Jake,
Verify that you are connected to the internet and that your router is working. Then try to connect to a site like google. If your browser displays the google page, there is nothing wrong with your connection.
If it doesn't then contact your ISP (Internet service provider) and ask for a solution.

Cant pick up wireless internet from hub

It doesn't sound like you have a wireless router or wireless access point. If you have a hub or switch, that doesn't give you wireless capability.
Many wireless routers will have antennas on the back of the unit (that is one way to tell) but it's not sure since some don't.
You can post back with the make & model of your router, etc. for device specific help.

How is your internet security set? Try resetting your router to factory specs and see if your laptop works. I know it seems weird that only one computer wont connect, but try a different router, and try a different security setting within your wireless router.

Only one computer can acces the internet in my hub , I have a Linksys NH1005 hub , I'm using cable dsl , but only one computer can acces the internet , it does not matter wich port

If you want to use more than one computers you will need to replace that hub with router. Best is to get wireless router because in most routers you have places for wired connections and also wireless connection.

Reason why you can't use more than one computer is simple because most ISP are allowing only one computer to be connected from DSL modem.
