Look inside the despenser in the door and make sure that the flapper that when you get ice through the door is sealing off the shute.
if it is not sealing it off there is a kit for the problem
as far as defrosting the fridge you can use a hair drier and remove the frost, you will need some towells to get up the water

Freezer is not cold enough. appears tobe cooling just not enough. turned dial to colder. things are still thawing. Is it possible freon is low? we have had this refrigerator for about 5 years. Also it says...

First thing that can be checked is for dirt and dust accumulated on the underside grill or behind the fridge. Clean this up thoroughly and check if things get better.
In normal cases freon shouldn't escape because its is a sealed system unless there is leaks, this could actually be the case.
Get it checked.

Or your compressor may be dying out. Is there any weird noises?

The freezer keeps defrosting and re-freezing again

First you need to remove plastic cover inside freezer compartment back wall at the bottom and check for build up of frost in the freezing unit if so your defrost system is faulty

Whirlpool Gold Side By Side Ice Dispenser Problems

Instead of what you think the sound is, try and see what is happening when you actuate the ice lever. open freezer door, depress the door light switch, or tape it closed. now actuate the ice dispenser lever, does the flapping door open, that which opens to allow ice from bucket into your glass? Now look at the bucket itself, do you see the gears rotating? remove the bucket from the door, and repeat, do you see the auger shaft rotating?

Either of these are a complex repair, one I would not recommend DIYers to try on their own, for they require taking the door apart, and if not done right, your door may not close properly. Normally I have no problem advising a repair, but there are some i dont, this icemaker system, and compressors.

Whirlpool Refrigerator(side by side) leaking water

First question would be is your ice machine leaking? If so then disable the ice machine until we can find the cause of leaks and repair them. Is the freezer freezing well? Food compartment temps OK?. Let me know and I will work to help you resolve this. Sea Breeze sea [email protected]

Ice forming in freezer refrigerator not getting cold

Replace your heater and thermostat behind the back wall of the freezer. the air will not flow from the freezer to the fridge because of all the forming ice. Also replace the defrost timer. take your model number into a local parts store and they can get you the parts. This is very common!!!!! But pretty easy to do.

Ice maker chute icing up

The flap is probably not closing properly. Dispense some ice, then open the freezer door and look to see if the flap is still slightly open. If so, you will have to take the front cover off of the control panel and clean the muck off of the flap mechanism and also clean the solenoid. I have to do this about 2X year. Not a big job, but be careful.

Refridgerator ice maker not making ice

actually it should be blinking when door opened, try closint the little flap on left side of freezer liner, does hte light then become solid??? if so the electronic control is working correctly.. open the flap acessing to ice maker itself is there any ice in the machine now?? perhaps an ice cubes is jammed and not allowing hte icemaker to advance.. ck the little black nozzle(fill tube) crush it with your fingers is it full of ice???if so your fill tube is frozen and needs to be thawed. this is a pretty hard ice maker to trouble shoot. lastly theres ascrew under the rt corner if ice machine 1/4 nut driver. remove htat screw it releases acover for wires. the ice maker will pull out (youl need to push up a little tab along the left siderail inwhich the ice aker sits , after removed pry off the white cover if ice maker and look at the center gear. sometomes the tabs holding that gear on are broken in which case hte ice maker wont work and needs replacing(you cant sevice the main gear replace the entie assy. let me know what you find( iknow it sounds like a lot but youll be alright!!!!!
